The key parameter is identification: NPC behavior changes once they recognize you, depending on your past actions. Each faction has a counter that tracks defeats attributed to V. Kills and takedowns are added to this counter as soon as the gang members identify you. You can avoid being recognized through stealth and disguise, but as your Street Cred increases, traveling and fighting incognito becomes more difficult. You can check your stats in the They Will Remember tab in the character menu. After each defeat, there is a chance that the entire faction will turn hostile. This probability increases as your kill counter rises. If a faction becomes hostile, any enemies who recognize you will attack on sight. This applies to street gangs, patrolling enemies from Night City Alive, and NCPD scanner NPCs. It's better to act stealthily here—if you are identified, combat will start immediately. If the NCPD becomes hostile, identification also gives you a wanted star. After that, they won’t forget about you, even if you escape the pursuit. Hostile factions can send hit squads after you if you enter their territory. Attacks can happen in any public area—on foot or in a vehicle. The probability and strength of the squad depend on your Street Cred and kill count. Each in-game day, a memory update occurs. Old kills are forgotten, and the rest have a small chance of being forgotten as well. After the counter is updated, there’s a chance the faction will become neutral again. Of course, if the counter is still high, the chance is minimal. Sometimes a fixer loyal to you may offer to negotiate forgiveness with a hostile faction.
- The mod includes a reinforcements module to make fights even more interesting.
- The disguise system allows you to hide your identity and/or dress up as enemies. Use the Wardrobe with Equipment-Ex or standard slots. Disguise stats are displayed in the inventory and wardrobe.
- A face disguise simply lowers your chance of being identified: if a hostile gang member sees you, they are less likely to attack, and as long as you remain anonymous, kills won’t be remembered.
- An affiliated disguise makes enemies treat you as one of their own and react accordingly.
- You can try dressing like a gang and complete gigs or NCPD scanners as if you belong there. But if you act suspiciously, combat will likely start.
- Disguise also has a strong impact on street fights: you may be attacked because of a fake affiliation, or receive support from allies if you’re fighting their enemies.
The mod settings menu allows you to fine-tune gameplay by adjusting most parameters. For maximum effect, Night City Alive is recommended, Equipment-Ex expands the disguise system, and Inventory Adjustment HUB adds useful tags for picking out clothes and building disguises. Disguise and identification mechanics are always active, but hostility is disabled during quests/side missions/gigs.
