Darksiders 3 is an action-adventure hack-and-slash game set in a post-apocalyptic world from a third-person perspective. In this new installment of the saga, players will meet the next Horseman of the Apocalypse — Fury, who possesses magic and wields a special whip. She must restore the balance between good and evil on Earth. Fury also has to defeat the Seven Deadly Sins and their minions, which are mystical creatures and various abominations. Use the heroine's magic to unlock her various forms, each of which grants access to new weapons, abilities, and moves.
The backstory of the game world
Darksiders 3 takes place in a fantasy universe consisting of many worlds. Earth, the third world, emerged in the heat of chaos between Heaven and Hell. There are other worlds, as well as enclosed areas of strangely shaped space.
For millennia, the balance between all sides was maintained by the Brotherhood of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse under the control of the Charred Council, but for unknown reasons, the final battle between angels and demons began in 2012.
To restore order, Fury will have to visit many worlds, not just Earth. The game features an open world implemented in a unique way. Between corridor-type locations with wide spaces and branches with secrets, there are no loading screens, meaning the entire game world is a vast labyrinth that can be traversed in various ways.
Sometimes you have to return to previously explored locations to do something new — unlock a previously locked door or reach an inaccessible place using a new ability.
The plot and the main character
The events of all three games span several centuries and occur simultaneously. While War from Darksiders is restoring order on Earth, and Death from Darksiders 2 sacrifices himself to resurrect humanity, Fury is carrying out a mission for the Charred Council, restoring balance in the Universe.
Chronologically, the plot of the sequel unfolds parallel to Darksiders 2 and is closely intertwined with the stories of past installments. From time to time, Fury encounters familiar Horsemen, and Strife briefly appears, whose story will be told in the next installment.
The writers have created a plethora of colorful characters, and the dialogues and comments in the new game are significantly more than in previous ones, and fans will be pleased with how the developers crafted a cohesive story for the entire series and thoughtfully considered many moments in advance.
If you are starting your acquaintance with Darksiders from the sequel, there will be no questions, as you will be provided with all the necessary information.
Darksiders 3 is full of cool cutscenes, plot twists, and key moments, but all these stories do not overwhelm the player, as the main focus here is on combat and solving puzzles.
Gameplay
The sequel was developed by a new studio that significantly revamped the gameplay, introducing a host of new ideas while retaining only the core of the old ones.
Among the trendy borrowings is a tough gameplay style; there are fewer mobs, but they are noticeably stronger and can kill with just a few hits. No more dozens of weak monsters and a few mediocre bosses: get distracted, let yourself get surrounded, and you’re off to respawn.
There are no autosaves before bosses now, and after dying, you have to replay a significant chunk of the level. The first boss appears as early as the 15th minute of the game and makes you sweat, not to mention the others. Fans of Dark Souls will be pleased that there are five difficulty levels and room for true "hardcore" play.
Another innovation is the constant changes as the player progresses further. Enemies, bosses, and even locations change according to the hero's skills and strength, revealing new possibilities. If you've learned to use the whip, there are areas where you need to jump using it. Enemies have become tougher – a two-handed sword will come in handy. And so on.
The fighting mechanics from previous games remain — fast battles with a bunch of combos and the ability to hit opponents even in the air. In the early stages, Fury wields a fiery whip, but later gains access to many other types of weapons. Each weapon has a unique set of attacks.
Single player
Darksiders 3 can draw you in for dozens of hours thanks to the game world being like a big puzzle, with its mysteries revealed gradually. The main character is something new for the series; she is a battle mage who does not simply melee everyone in the front lines. Instead, she uses her abilities.
There are four forms of magic in the game, each changing Fury's main weapon and altering her abilities. For example, the void form allows wielding a heavy hammer, transforming into a giant stone ball, or climbing walls. There are also RPG elements – by gaining points for levels, you can distribute them among Strength, Health, and Magic categories;
Although the gameplay is linear and there is no multiplayer, the single-player mode entertains the player very well with good gameplay and an engaging story, along with the search for secrets, weapon upgrades, rescuing people for karma, finding souls to purchase skills, and there is always something to do.

Reviews and ratings
Perhaps, as a fan of the Darksiders series of games, the review will be too laudatory, but I liked the game. CAUTION, I MAY HAVE A SPOILER.
- The developers, taking into account the financial failure of the second part, decided to return to the roots. Of course, I was more of a fan of Part 2, but I fell in love with the series thanks to Part 1, and it’s always nice to look at something new.
- The game has become linear, the world, although it looks big, consists of “guts” hidden behind beautiful graphics (maybe that’s why there is no
map in the game).
- Loot has become more modest, and weapon upgrades have become more interesting.
- There are not quite as few types of enemies as I expected, and yes, they can be very difficult to kill (except for the recently added classic mode).

Read full
Honestly, I'm a fan of this series, hence the high rating. Why isn't it the maximum? Yes, because I encountered more bugs here than in the two previous games. Of these, the most interesting are: respawning in a stone texture 3-4 meters away from Vulgrim, getting stuck at spawn in a microtexture, constant jokes with the impossibility of attacking the enemy.
I completed the game on apocalyptic difficulty and was mostly happy with the game, but the bugs spoiled my impression.
