Endless Ocean is a scuba-diving simulation about exploring marine life, shipwrecks and underwater ruins at a relaxed pace. The player controls a diver who studies and interacts with sea creatures, using tools such as a camera and fish bait. Aboard the diving boat, the fish log records spotted species, while a crew member offers advice on places to explore.
Missions include photographing marine life and completing other tasks, which unlock underwater items and diving gear for customizing the diver. Newly discovered species are added to the log, and a dolphin companion can swim and train alongside the diver. There is no need to hurry: the player can decide how much time to spend exploring.
