Far Cry New Dawn

Far Cry New Dawn is a continuation of the popular first-person shooter series, which, unlike previous games, will take you to a post-apocalyptic world — Hope County in Montana, 17 years after a nuclear catastrophe. In the game world, you will face battles with mutants and armed raiders who wish to seize the remaining resources in the world. There is also a cooperative mode, single-player mode, new weapons, and tamable animals, including a Shiba Inu dog and a boar. Additionally, you will be able to build and develop your own base.

Far Cry New Dawn is a post-apocalyptic spin-off in the Far Cry series and a narrative continuation of Far Cry 5. The gameplay has become even more fun and carefree than in the numbered games of the series, with slight RPG elements, while vehicles, world exploration, and weapon upgrades remain intact.

Among the main changes is that enemies now have ranks; the higher the rank, the more powerful, "thicker," and better armed they are. The player will also earn ranks and create weapons to match their level. The base is not only a place to rest and store resources, but also an operational center where allied NPCs reside, attacks are planned, and upgrades for weapons and vehicles are established.

There are many more parkour elements, as if the character is 2.5 meters tall. He jumps further, drops down with little damage to health, and can climb any ledge or roof, as there are many platforms underneath that the protagonist ascends with unprecedented ease.

Some common shooter mechanics — stealth kills, the appearance of weapons and NPCs, as well as unusual weapons — have been reworked to fit the brutal nature of the post-apocalypse. Otherwise, New Dawn is a typical Ubisoft shooter with plenty of shootouts and explosions, joyrides in makeshift vehicles, hunting, completing side quests, and other various crazy things.

New Dawn borrowed the map from Far Cry 5, which has been significantly redesigned for new conditions, but it has become somewhat smaller than that of the numbered game. New areas have opened up for players, while a number of old areas are inaccessible. The game features much more nature and fewer human constructions, most of which were destroyed by nuclear strikes on Hope County.

Mutations caused by radiation have led to a predominance of pink in the vegetation and animals, and overall a brighter color palette, similar to what was seen in Watch Dogs 2. Some animals have remained in their pristine form, while others have adapted to new conditions, gaining dangerous means of defense.

The sparse remnants of the higher civilization now stand rusted and decayed, while the surviving aborigines use any trash for construction. Characters and other NPCs look like typical ragamuffins after the nuclear apocalypse, although they manage to find some cosmetics and a curling iron somewhere.

As for factions, there will be three — the surviving loners, which include the hero himself, reckless daredevils, and raiders from the Highwaymen gang, as well as "Eden" — the group led by Joseph Seed from the fifth part that survived in the north.

The story of New Dawn closely mirrors the presentation of Far Cry 5: engine cutscenes, radio briefings, and small dialogues. The game is experimental for Ubisoft, so the main antagonists are the black albino sisters, Mickey and Lou. Their principle is: "power is the new currency," they rob survivors, take their resources (the most valuable of which is ethanol), and kill them for fun.

To restore order, the hero or heroine (at the beginning of the new game, you can create your character with erased gender stereotypes) must gain the support of the Edenites and earn the trust of the aging Joseph Seed!

Other characters from the fifth part have also survived, and if desired, they can be found to see how they survived the apocalypse and changed over 17 years. In New Dawn, as in Far Cry 4, raiders freely roam your territory, conduct sabotage, and attempt to reclaim lost pieces of land. The war for territory and resources has become the leitmotif of the story.
