Far Cry 5 is a continuation of the series of first-person adventure shooters. Welcome to the state of Montana — for the first time in the series, the game's events take place on American soil, and you can explore the game world either solo or in co-op with another player. The picturesque corner of Hope County has become home not only to people who value freedom but also to the religious sect Project "Eden's Gate," whose plans our main character must thwart. In this difficult task, he will not be alone — a Resistance has already formed in the county, which the hero will lead to unite the remaining residents against the cultists.

In the fight against fanatics, all means are good — you can hire up to three special heroes who will disrupt the plans of the "Edenites." Additionally, the game introduces the ability to tame specially trained animals, which can be quite useful, such as bears or cougars. Don't forget about the wide variety of weapons you can use — from melee weapons like baseball bats and hammers to pistols, rifles, and grenades. You can traverse the vast territory of the county both by land transport, such as muscle cars, ATVs, and even tractors, as well as by planes, battling cultists in the air.

To make the game world look natural, the developers visited the state of Montana, where they captured the nature and landscape, interesting plant and animal species, and observed the local residents.

The events of Far Cry 5 unfold in the fictional Hope County located on the border of the USA. These vast lands are under the control of Joseph Seed — a Christian pastor who has deluded himself into believing he is a new prophet and has gone mad as a result. He is supported by religious fanatics from the "Eden's Gate" sect, who are also well-armed.

To establish his power, Seed and his three henchmen do not hesitate to use psychotropic drugs, incite militaristic psychosis, and brainwash with propaganda. The separatists expected the federal government to come for them, so they blocked all exits from the county. Sitting in a siege, they are ready for resistance.

A simple mission to arrest Seed fails. The player, the sheriff's deputy, and the only representative of federal authority must unite a small number of disgruntled locals, rescue their comrades, and take revenge on the fanatics. As you progress, you'll have to shoot and blow things up a lot.

The plot of Far Cry 5 is presented through in-engine cutscenes, radio briefings, and small dialogues. The number of story missions is fewer and they occur less frequently, but the story is well-developed and thought out, showcasing the classic struggle between good and evil. Side quests are organically woven into the game "sandbox."

The game world of Far Cry 5 is slightly larger than that of previous games in the series, but it is more densely "packed," offering more gameplay opportunities per unit area. A "crop duster" that drops bombs has appeared, as well as aerial dogfights in planes and helicopters, but other means of transportation remain.

After tropical islands and cold mountain valleys, players will behold rural plain landscapes where people peacefully graze cattle and cultivate the land, divided by coniferous forests and wide rivers. For greater variety, the game world is divided into three zones with different types of terrain.

In Far Cry 5, Ubisoft has abandoned towers; now the map quickly opens up fully before the player, who can head in any direction. Collecting items has been minimized and simplified, but after Far Cry: Primal, the ability to tame wild animals remains. The combat system combines the best solutions from Far Cry 4 with new developments.

Far Cry 5 can be played from start to finish in cooperative mode with a friend or in single-player mode. In the first case, players can fish or hunt together, complete story and side quests, using various weapons or stealth, coordinating teamwork. If necessary, players can exchange resources, ammunition, medkits, and revive each other.

In single-player mode, the player is accompanied by mercenaries or tamed wild animals (remembering Primal). Allies help the player survive; completing a small personal quest can raise their reputation in their eyes and enhance their characteristics.
