The first game in the series, made in the popular HD-2D style. The developers combined classic pixel art with modern visual technologies, dynamic camera work, and volumetric lighting effects. According to the authors' concept, the project aims to show how the development of the early parts of Final Fantasy could have evolved if the series had continued in a two-dimensional format.
The story is based on the events of the first season of the mobile RPG Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius, however, Resonance is not a direct remake or port. The main character is once again the royal knight Rain. Together with his companions, he embarks on a journey through the world to uncover the mystery of a mysterious power that could lead to his demise. Players can expect a classic tale of friendship, fate, and world salvation, filled with the signature elements of the series — crystals, airships, espers, moogles, and grand adventures between continents.
The combat system is based on turn-based battles with an emphasis on finding enemy weaknesses. Exploiting vulnerabilities will allow players to break through enemy defenses, gain additional actions, and unleash powerful resonance attacks capable of turning the tide of battle.
