Installation instructions:

Method 1: Automated Installation (Recommended)

  1. Download and extract the trainer archive to a standard folder (do not run from inside the ZIP viewer).
  2. Open PowerShell inside the extracted directory.
  3. Run the installer script:
    powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\install.ps1
    (If the game is installed on a non-default drive: powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\install.ps1 -GameDir 'X:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\How to Fish\How to Fish').
  4. Launch How To Fish through Steam.

Method 2: Manual Installation

  1. Download BepInEx (Windows x64 Mono package) and extract its contents into your root game directory alongside How to Fish.exe.
  2. Confirm the following core files are in place:
    BepInEx\core\BepInEx.dll
    winhttp.dll
    doorstop_config.ini
  3. Copy HowToFish.Trainer.dll into:
    ...\How to Fish\BepInEx\plugins\HowToFish.Trainer\
    (Create the HowToFish.Trainer folder if needed).
  4. Launch the game once and inspect BepInEx\LogOutput.log for the confirmation line:
    How to Fish Trainer 1.4.0 loaded.
  5. Press F1 or Insert in-game to open the trainer dashboard.
