Kinetic Void is a space simulation game with action elements, focused on exploring a procedurally generated galaxy. There is no main storyline: the player chooses how to proceed, building a ship and dealing with the galaxy’s factions through trade, combat, or piracy. Faction relations shift as events unfold, while each new game generates a fresh sector map and set of factions.
Ships are assembled piece by piece, with customizable cockpits, hulls, engines, weapons, and other modules. Subsystems can improve specific ship attributes, but may be destroyed when damaged. Spaceflight follows physics, so collisions with asteroids can harm a vessel; the Kinetic Field Generator creates artificial gravity around the ship and enables the Micro Warp Drive. The game includes Creative and Career modes.
