Top-down arena battles bring together one to eight players in matches featuring medieval weapons, lasers, and miniguns. Knight Squad offers both team and solo modes: players can fight to be the last one standing, capture the flag or the Grail, and take part in medieval soccer.

Swords, bows, crossbows, bombs, and other weapons, along with power-ups, can be picked up on the battlefield. When there are not enough players, bots fill the empty slots, with their difficulty selectable. Alongside online matches, the game includes dedicated challenge levels, where completing the trials earns a place on the leaderboard.
