Nano Assault is an arcade shooter that takes players through cell stages and dark worlds with rugged terrain. The difficulty adjusts to the player's skill, and enemies include the Black Nucleus, Hyper Blobs and Spore Plants.
Combat uses powerful beams, energetic bombs and other weapons that can be unlocked. If the player is defeated, a clone can respawn to continue the journey. Missions Mode challenges players to destroy as many enemies as possible before time runs out, while the Hall of Fame lets them compare scores with friends.
