Raiden IV: OverKill is a vertical arcade shoot ’em up built around battles against large enemy formations and bosses. It adds new stages and the OverKill mode, which features a revised scoring system. Players can unlock and master a range of weapons and items.

Alongside OverKill, the game includes an Arcade Mode with two difficulty settings, an Additional Mode with two new stages, and a Score Attack mode covering stages from OverKill as well. Results in several modes can be compared through world rankings. Clearing the game unlocks a secret mode, while the gallery lets players view items and replay data can be watched.
