A dedicated Unreal Engine 5 performance optimization mod packaged as a .pak archive for Silent Hill: Townfall. Designed to resolve common technical hiccups without sacrificing graphical fidelity, the mod focuses on eliminating Pipeline State Object (PSO) shader compilation hitching, traversal stutters during area transitions, and frame-rate instability caused by VRAM saturation. It optimizes asynchronous texture streaming, refines memory pooling for Lumen and Virtual Shadow Maps (VSM), disables engine-level mouse smoothing, and trims unnecessary diagnostic overhead. The visual integrity of the experience remains untouched: thick volumetric fog, dark ambient contrast, and cinematic lighting stay intact.
Key Features:
- Reduced Shader Hitching (PSO Cache): Enhanced Pipeline State Object and shader caching protocols reduce jarring frame freezes when new particle effects, monsters, or cinematic sequences trigger for the first time.
- Smoother World Streaming: Fine-tunes asynchronous World Partition data delivery to minimize micro-stutter when sprinting or exploring across connected sectors.
- Raw Mouse Input: Strips out default Unreal Engine camera smoothing for direct 1:1 mouse movement response.
- Optimized VRAM Management: Calibrated texture streaming pools ease video memory pressure, preventing memory thrashing and texture-loading stalls (particularly beneficial on 8–10 GB GPUs).
- Lumen & VSM Balancing: Tailored memory cache boundaries for Lumen global illumination and Virtual Shadow Maps maintain visual fidelity without unneeded hardware overhead.
- Reduced Engine Overhead: Disables superfluous background telemetry and debugging hooks, freeing up CPU processing time.
- Full Visual Atmosphere Preservation: This is a performance tuning mod, not a graphical downgrade; dense volumetric fog, shadows, and mood lighting remain completely active.
Available Presets (Install ONLY ONE):
LOW-END / MINIMUM
- Target: 1080p, 30–60 FPS, Low / Medium graphics presets.
- Target Hardware: Ryzen 5 3600 / Core i7-8700K or equivalent CPU, 16 GB RAM, RTX 2060 Super 8 GB / RX 6600 8 GB or equivalent GPU.
- Profile Highlights: Conservative VRAM profile (58% texture streaming pool target), 1024 Lumen cache resolution, ~1024 MB Nanite streaming pool limit, and 6 decompression worker threads. Recommended for systems with limited VRAM headroom.
RECOMMENDED
- Target: 1440p–4K, 30–60 FPS, High graphics presets (with DLSS / FSR / TSR Balanced when targeting higher resolutions).
- Target Hardware: Ryzen 7 5700X / Core i7-9700K or equivalent CPU, 32 GB RAM, RTX 3080 10–12 GB / RX 7800 XT 16 GB or equivalent GPU.
- Profile Highlights: 70% VRAM pool allocation, native 2048 Lumen cache resolution, extended Lumen tracing distance, 8 worker threads, and balanced Virtual Shadow Map settings. The ideal starting baseline for most modern gaming setups.
NEXT-GEN / FLAGSHIP
- Target: Native 4K, 60+ FPS, Maximum / Ultra graphics presets.
- Target Hardware: Ryzen 7 7800X3D, modern Ryzen 9000-series, Intel Core i7/i9 13th–15th Gen, 32–64 GB RAM, RTX 4080 / 4090 / 5070 / 5080 / 5090, RX 7900 XTX / 9070 XT or better.
- Profile Highlights: Maximized streaming caches and expanded memory bounds built to capitalize on high-end hardware with abundant VRAM reserves and multi-threaded CPU architectures.
Installation & Uninstallation:
- Choose only one .pak preset file that matches your hardware setup.
- Navigate to your game installation path:
.../Silent Hill Townfall/Content/Paks/ - Create a folder named ~mods if it does not already exist.
- Place the chosen .pak file into the ~mods directory.
- Removal: To revert all settings back to vanilla defaults, simply delete the .pak file from the ~mods folder.
