Because Silent Hill: Townfall shipped without in-game menu support for Frame Generation, this modification forces Unreal Engine 5 to run AMD FSR 3 / FidelityFX Frame Interpolation natively via a tuned Engine.ini configuration. The fix runs out of the box across any modern GPU vendor without injecting third-party .dll files, translation wrappers, or risking software conflicts. The provided configuration file comes pre-tweaked and flagged as "Read-Only" to prevent the game engine from overwriting the injected variables on boot.

Key Features:

  • Native FSR Frame Generation — Forces Unreal Engine 5's internal FidelityFX.FI pipeline to process interpolated frames in the background.
  • Significant FPS Uplift — Capable of doubling perceived frame rates depending on the baseline performance floor and hardware headroom, fully utilizing high-refresh-rate displays.
  • Clean Configuration Mod — Zero loose .dll files or hook injectors placed into game directories, ensuring absolute system cleanliness.
  • Broad Scaler Compatibility — Operates seamlessly alongside whichever primary resolution upscaler is active in the settings menu (DLSS, FSR, or TSR).

Available Variants (Choose One):

  • Default — Baseline profile configured for maximum framerate throughput.
  • Option 1: Increase stability — Disables asynchronous computing tasks and swapchain overwrites, eliminating the majority of memory leaks during longer sessions.
  • Option 2: Force Native DX12 Backend — Enforces a native D3D12 interface to resolve crashes on specific driver setups and sensitive FSR 3 plugin revisions.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Choose one Engine.ini preset that matches your system needs.
  2. Press Win + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialogue.
  3. Type:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\Townfall\Saved\Config\Windows
    and press Enter.
  4. Create a backup of your original Engine.ini file in a separate folder.
  5. Copy and paste the downloaded Engine.ini into the directory, confirming the file overwrite.
  6. Verify that the file's properties are set to "Read-Only" so the client cannot reset it upon launch.
  7. Launch the game.
