Song in the Smoke is a survival adventure set in a mysterious prehistoric world inhabited by strange beasts. After a three-headed crow awakens the protagonist at the edge of a forest, the journey continues through eight stages featuring forests, valleys, and frozen terrain.

To survive, the protagonist gathers resources, hunts, fights beasts and the elements, and crafts tools, weapons, and medicine. Threats can be identified by sound as well as sight, and the bow allows for careful aiming—but the hunter may also become prey.
