About the Game

An online management game with collectible elements built entirely around real-world sports matches. The player assembles lineups using cards of football, basketball, or baseball athletes, enters them into tournaments, and earns points based on how those players perform in real life. Sorare essentially combines fantasy sports, a card system, and an NFT-based economy, but without direct control — the key lies in squad selection and a deep understanding of real-world sports. You need to follow competitions and know each athlete's capabilities in order to anticipate their performance.

The foundation of the game is athlete cards. They differ in rarity, season, and type, and sometimes provide bonuses. Each tournament requires assembling a team under specific conditions: in some cases, five players are enough, while others demand a broader roster. In baseball, for example, roles such as pitchers and infielders are also crucial. Points are awarded based on real-world statistics, so success depends on how accurately the player selected their lineup.

How the gameplay works

First, the lineup is assembled, then it is locked in before the selected athletes' real-life matches begin. In some cases, part of the team can be adjusted before a specific game starts — this creates room for maneuver but requires constant attention to schedules.

There are several modes. Sorare Pro is a classic competitive format with an overall leaderboard and a division system: players can move up or down depending on their results. Arena works differently — the player is placed into a small group and competes within a limited pool of opponents, often with additional restrictions. Sorare Set focuses on collecting themed card sets and completing chains of tasks for rewards. Alongside these, there are missions and additional activities that encourage regular play.

Overall, the gameplay revolves around continuous information processing: analyzing player form, tracking match schedules, monitoring roster rotations, and accounting for tournament restrictions. This type of game is more about calculation and analysis than traditional gameplay in the usual sense.

Collection and progression

Beyond tournaments, your collection of player cards plays a major role in Sorare. Cards can be grouped by clubs and seasons, effectively forming album-like collections. Completing specific sets grants bonuses — for example, increasing the number of points those players generate. In other words, the more extensive and well-structured your collection is, the stronger your team becomes.

Some cards can be “sealed,” meaning they are removed from active use. They can no longer be placed in lineups or sold, but in return they start enhancing your account by increasing rewards or providing additional bonuses. This creates a meaningful choice: either use a strong card immediately in a tournament or sacrifice it temporarily for long-term benefits.

Rewards in Sorare vary. They can include new cards (sometimes of higher rarity), in-game resources, purchase discounts, real money, or cryptocurrency. In some cases, even physical prizes such as merchandise or tickets are available. At the same time, all cards function not just as in-game items but as assets: they can be bought, sold, and traded via auctions. Over time, the collection becomes a resource that can be strengthened, restructured, or even partially monetized.

It is worth emphasizing once again the core idea of the project — Sorare does not function like a traditional game. There is no direct control over matches or athletes. Instead, the gameplay is built around lineup selection, analysis, and collection management.
