The events unfold on the island of Tagvido, which emerged on the border of the shattered six Kingdoms after an outcast named Agasa destroyed these boundaries in an attempt to break the wheel of reincarnations. Scattered across the shards of the world are the Sources — they must be collected to restore the cycle of reincarnation and bring back the lost order.
There are six heroes, and these are the six classes of the game. Each of the Seekers arrives on the island with their own karma and purpose: the player chooses one, while the other five join as allies throughout the story, gradually revealing their past and the reasons that brought them to Tagvido. In battle, the classes rely on different traditions — blades, firearms, martial arts, mystical practices, and power over spirits, each with its own system of resources and abilities.
The most intriguing aspect of Tarae: The Unbound is the leveling system. The balance and opposition of the five elements, the harmony of yin and yang, karma, and the cycle of reincarnations influence character development, equipment, and fighting style, so two players of the same class can create completely different builds. The bosses are creatures from Eastern myths and folklore, each tied to their location — from quiet temples to fallen fortresses and streets teeming with ghosts.
