This rally driving simulator combines rally and rallycross racing on tracks affected by changing weather and time of day. In career mode, the player takes part in time trials and World Championship series, while rallycross competitions pit them against several opponents in head-to-head races.

The career begins with a worn-out car. Race earnings can be spent on upgrades, repairs and tuning, as well as entry fees. Damage and the condition and configuration of car parts affect handling, while weather and track surroundings also influence how the car behaves. Xpand Rally includes tools for creating tracks, cars and game mods.
