Borderlands 4 Receives First Update Improving PC Performance
Diana Golenko
Gearbox Software has announced the first update for Borderlands 4, aimed at optimizing the PC version. The team also reminded players about recommendations designed to improve performance on NVIDIA and AMD graphics cards.
We hope you're having a blast in Borderlands 4. The team is loving seeing you all shooting and looting your way through Kairos. Today we're releasing a new update to help improve stability for a wide range of PCs. Please note that any time you change any of your graphics settings, your shaders will need to recompile; it may take up to 15 minutes for this process to fully complete.
In addition, the developers recommended that NVIDIA GPU owners download the latest Game Ready drivers (581.29) for better optimization. Detailed graphics tuning guides can be found at these official Borderlands 4 links — separate instructions are available for NVIDIA and AMD users.
The launch of Borderlands 4 has been extremely rough — Steam users bombed the game’s rating due to severe technical issues. Many reported crashes, FPS drops, and other problems, even on high-end hardware. Recently, benchmark results across 33 graphics cards were also published.
Borderlands 4 is now available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5. The Nintendo Switch 2 release is scheduled for October 3.
