How to Fix Errors 0x80072EE7, 0x80a40401, and 0х80072EFD on Xbox

When launching your Xbox console or trying to download the latest game, such as Starfield, you may encounter errors 0x80a40401, 0х80072EFD, and 0x80072EE7. Messages like Service Unavailable or Temporary Network Problem on your gaming console may arise not only after Xbox services have been blocked for a specific country or region but also due to a lack of internet connection, issues with the MAC address, or Microsoft account problems. In this guide, we have compiled several working methods to solve these problems.

Check your internet connection and restart your router

Before changing any settings, make sure the problem isn't something simple. Check your internet connection using another device. If you see the message Connected, no internet access, then you need to restart your router. However, even if other devices are working fine, we recommend restarting both your router and the console. If this doesn't help, move on to the next step.

Connect to a different network

Try connecting to a different network by using your smartphone as a hotspot. To do this, activate the Personal Hotspot feature in the settings. Your phone will start to quickly drain its battery, but by acting as a secondary device, it can help avoid many restrictions. If the problem is related to your home internet provider, share the internet using mobile data. If this solves the issue, consider getting a separate modem from this telecom operator with an unlimited internet package.

Update your MAC address

The MAC address is a unique identifier for your console in the home network and the internet. Since this address has caused numerous errors in the past, Microsoft decided to add a feature to clear this address.

  • Press the Xbox button on the controller;
  • Go to the Profile & system tab, then select Settings;
  • In the General section, find Network settings;
  • Click on Advanced settings and switch to Alternate MAC address;
  • Select Clear and restart the console.

Re-enter your account

The issue might not be related to your location but rather to your account. Simply remove it from your Xbox console and sign in again.

Note: Make sure you remember your login credentials before proceeding.

  • Open Settings, as you did in the previous step;
  • Go to the account section, then select Remove accounts;
  • Choose your account and press the word Remove;
  • Restart your Xbox console;
  • Return to the Profile & system tab and select Add or switch, then Add new profile;
  • Enter your login credentials and set up your Microsoft account.

Set up a personal DNS server (working DNS to bypass errors on Xbox)

Another working method is to manually set the DNS server. This option will allow you to continue playing in the shortest time possible and without consequences.

  • Open the Settings section by pressing the Xbox icon on the controller;
  • In the General section, select Network settings;
  • You need the Advanced settings section, where the DNS settings option is located.

Switch to manual input and enter the following values:

  • In the Primary IPv4 DNS field — 78.157.42.100;
  • In the Secondary IPv4 DNS field — 78.157.42.101.

After this, restart your console and log into your account. If these settings do not eliminate the error, then try the following pairs:

  • 176.99.11.77 and 80.78.247.254;
  • 37.220.84.124 and 0.0.0.0;
  • 37.220.84.124 and 85.234.106.202;
  • 78.157.42.100 and 78.157.42.101;
  • 178.22.122.100 and 127.22.122.100;
  • 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220;
  • 199.85.126.20 and 199.85.127.20.

One downside of this method is that some users have reported a slight decrease in connection speed.
