Deltarune is a pixel RPG about three heroes destined to save the world from an approaching apocalypse. Across all chapters, you will search for new allies, spare enemies, and close special Dark Fountains. In this guide, we explain how to complete Chapter 5, defeat bosses, solve puzzles, find secret chests, and avoid missing important optional scenes.
Deltarune Chapter 5 Walkthrough. Standard Route
Load your previous save, as long as it is not from the Weird Route, watch the opening cutscene, and take control of Kris. Leave the room through the lower door, go right down the hallway, and head down to the first floor of the house.
Find Toriel sleeping in her chair and approach her. A dialogue will begin, where the hero's mother asks you to make her honey toast. To do this, agree to help, go to the microwave on the counter to the left, interact with it using the Z key, and wait about ten seconds. Alternatively, you can refuse to make breakfast or take the toast for yourself so you can give it to another character later.
If you gave the sandwich to Toriel, talk to her about yesterday, say that you slept well, and leave the house through the door on the right. Once outside, go down, reach the main road, and turn right at the fork. Find your father Asgore near the flower stand and start a conversation. Listen to his story about the king and queen of the festival, bring up Toriel, then keep walking down the street. If you kept the sandwich, you will be able to give it to Asgore.
Along the way, you can talk to another NPC, then save at the first white star to the right of them. Keep moving along the only open path, enter the school, and go down into the Dark World through the central gray door.
In Castle Town, you will be greeted by Ralsei and Lancer. Learn from Lancer about Susie's date preparations, then get ready to enter the castle. Before that, it is worth looking around the new location, since many new residents have appeared here. If you are interested in the status of your settlement, you can check its "love" level from the blue resident on the right.
First, go to the far-right wing and talk to the pink ball, the living trash can, and Nubert in the bright yellow wig. He will say that he will be waiting for Kris in the dojo. Return to the main square and enter the upper-right building labeled "Bakery TOP". Find the blue Joe behind the counter and learn about a special battle that requires three people to start. We will come back to it later.
If you have a Dark Crystal after defeating the secret boss in Chapter 4, go to Seam's shop in the upper-left corner and talk to him. He will take the second-to-last crystal from you, tell you about their origin, and give advice about the final secret boss. The remaining activities are not important for the story, but you can freely do them before entering the main castle.
Once you are done, go all the way up, save at the star, and enter the main building of the settlement, passing the race track near the gates. Inside, you will meet Susie and Queen. Talk to them, wait for the two ladies to leave, and meet Lancer again. He will suggest that the heroes create an outfit for Susie's date. A scene will start where you need to choose every part of the look. Pick anything, since it will not affect the future story.
After the final dialogues, you can explore the inside of the castle. The King is waiting in the basement, Susie and Kris' rooms are available on the first floor, while Queen's, Ralsei's, and Tenna's chambers are on the second floor, provided you did not hand him over to Mettaton in Chapter 4.
Now that Susie is in your party, Joe from the cafe can give the heroes a special challenge. Go to the upper-right building in the main square and interact with the cashier. Choose the only available battle and start the challenge.
How to Beat the Trash Trio Secret Boss
This is a secret boss that becomes available only if you have spared every monster across all four chapters. To defeat it, you need to use special actions:
- CleanUp: a dual action with Ralsei. The soul gets a broom that can clear background trash and increase Mercy progress.
- LayUp: a dual action with Susie. The soul gets a net that can catch enemy projectiles and increase Mercy progress.
To use all skills effectively, watch the Trash Trio's attacks. They always happen in the same order. First, the trash can rams the battle area and creates a pile of bag projectiles. Then the pink monster throws bouncing projectiles. Finally, Nubert covers parts of the map with his body by stretching it longer. During the trash can attack, use LayUp, then use CleanUp to clear the background trash from the field. Repeat this until the enemies surrender.
After the victory, return to the square, go all the way down, and leave the Dark World. At the exit, tell Susie that she looks good to get an extra dialogue a little later. Leave the school, turn left, and meet Noelle. Become their guide around town and visit the town festival.
How to Complete the Festival
At the festival, the heroes have access to many different activities, as well as special dialogues with important characters. First, go to the fork and head down. Enter the Halloween-themed church, talk to Father Alvin, drink the bloody juice on the table to the left, open the coffin lid, and then talk to Catty at the counter on the right.
Return outside and find Noelle's father, Rudy Holiday, who is working with the lights. Talk to him and go up. Head left, find the blue bird behind the counter, and learn about the special onion-octopus donuts sold for two gold. Hand them out to your companions and head to the first attraction on the left. Interact with the red target and ask Susie to hit it so the performer falls into the water.
Near the police station, you can find a strength game. Let the couple show what they can do. After that, return to the fork and move to the next festival segment on the street above. Immediately turn left and go all the way to the end to find the Ferris wheel. Interact with Sans, suggest that Susie and Noelle ride it, then watch the cutscene.
Then find the purple bunny girl and talk to her to get a short dialogue. Keep going right until you find the ice cream stand run by Sans. Talk to him, take a couple of cones, then ask him about his brother. Go right, interact with Temmie, then knock on the white door on the right for an extra dialogue, and talk to the skeleton at the edge of the street one last time.
Return to the fork, go up, and turn left. Take the chance to return to Kris' house for an extra dialogue, then head to the Holiday residence through the iron gate on the left. Find the large stage with the nervous Pizzapants and talk to any of the three candidates for his hand and heart. Each of them unlocks a special scene and soundtrack, but the choice itself does not affect the future story of the chapter for now. Still, it is worth noting:
- If you choose the alligator girl Bratty, Pizzapants will learn the truth about Pizzarina and get his first real girlfriend.
- If you choose the cat girl Catty, the outcome will be similar, but he will forget about the imaginary Pizzarina and find a new potential love.
- If you choose the ice cream bunny, Pizzapants will fall into depression, quit his job, and stop looking for love, while the ice cream seller will lose all his friends. Choose wisely.
After that, leave the Holiday family grounds and head toward the lake on the right, meeting Berdly along the way. Watch the short cutscene, interact with him again for extra dialogue, and keep going right. Meet Kris' father, have a short conversation, and continue to the lakeshore.
There are no extra interactions on the beach, so read the dialogue and enjoy the scenes. Once Noelle leaves the party and you regain control of Kris, return to the flower shop, watch the character create a Dark Fountain, and then descend into the new Dark World.
How to Complete the Flower World
Once you reach the bottom of the world, save at the white star and go right. Find Kris' father, then watch the animated cutscene introducing the "villain" of Chapter 5, a golden flower named Flowery. Listen to his conversation with Asgore, go to the next room, and pick up Ralsei from the lower-left locker. The other lockers do not contain anything useful.
Find Flowery again, put the hat on the little goat, and move to the location with pink trees on the right. Be sure to save at the star. Cross the bridge and fight the Floradinns. To beat them, you only need to use one of the actions several times: either flirt using Susie's skill and spare them, or tire one of them out and then put them to sleep with magic. For a peaceful playthrough, it is enough to spare two enemies of this type.
After the victory, go down and turn onto the bridge on the left. Open the chest to get the RedRibbon armor. You can equip it on Susie to get a special dialogue. Below, there are two NPCs you can talk to. To continue, return to the bridge and turn right.
Next, you will encounter a box puzzle. To solve it, push the box twice to the right so it lands on the wooden platform. Once the spikes disappear, go up and interact with the sign among the wooden posts. This will trigger a special scene with Asgore and Flowery.
Return to the fork and turn right. To move on, you need to move a box onto a platform in the same way, but this time the area is not connected. You can fix this using the mushrooms in the room just below. Approach any honey fungus and interact with it several times until you have collected the maximum number of mushrooms.
Now leave the room. All the mushrooms will fall to the floor and summon disguised shapeshifting foxes. You need to pick up the fox that was pretending to be a box, then carry it to the platform. Once that is done, the animal will turn into a box, and you will be able to move it. Also, do not forget to repeat this action to pick up the fox imitating a chest. Inside, you will find the NetskiHat.
Go up and find the room with moving scissors. You need to carefully make your way upward while avoiding the dangerous obstacles. Choose either route, since both the left and right paths lead to the same place. Then interact with the sign on the large pink door and learn that to open it, you need to show your enemy true love.
Enter the battle with the Floradinn on the left and choose the new green-highlighted action, Show Love. The second time, use Susie's Idea, and at the end, use Ralsei's Idea. Despite the victory, the gate will not open, so you need to use another idea.
Return to the castle and watch the cutscene. Flowery will join your party. Together with him, enter the battle with the Floradinn on the right and wait for the flower to do all the work. After that, bring Ralsei back, save at the star, and interact with the left red chest. It contains an endless supply of Flower Dollars, which will come in handy later. They really are endless, but you can only take one at a time. With enough patience, you can become a millionaire.
Now go through the central door and take the special watering can from the pedestal. With it, you can create new map tiles that the heroes can freely walk across. Leave the room and head to the location with the moving scissors. Use the new ability to reach the center and take the green tea from the chest.
Next, go left and create a path to the edge of the board. In the long room with water, there will be a pink chest containing one pink coin. These coins are scattered throughout the Dark World and will be useful later.
Return to the gate and turn right. The Floradinns will move aside, allowing you to create a new flower path. Now you need to water the ground and grow flowers so the scissors continue moving and clear the road. Fully water the first available corner and wait until the scissors move to the next group of blue plants. Then water the small corner on the left so the scissors can cut the Floradinn-shaped bush.
Now go up and create a path so the scissors break the large statue of Flowery and Asgore. To do this, water the lower line of flowers, then the right side line. After that, you will have to fight two Sheary enemies.
The battle against them is fairly simple. You need to choose one of three actions and cut out a specific shape within the time limit. The faster and more accurately you cut, the more the Mercy meter fills. It is best to choose the dual action with Susie, while Ralsei spares the selected enemy. This lets you finish the fight in two turns. After the victory, do not rush upward. First, guide the scissors to the Floradinn statue on the right and enter the new room.
Go up into the large field and pick up the bronze watering can. It covers a huge area and will let you create a portrait of Flowery out of flowers. Soon, the flower himself will appear and give you a chest with Thatchet, followed by another chest with 50 Flower Dollars.
Now return to the upper room and pass through the wooden arch. The heroes will cross the river at full speed and end up on the other bank. Go up and enter the flower diner. Watch the cutscene with Asgore and Flowery, save at the star, and talk to the local guests if needed.
After that, go right and enter a room with several gates. First, use the central arch and make sure to break the lower pink bushes. Then go down the stairs and run between the pillars again. Move a little to the right, interact with the chest, and start a battle with Netskie.
To defeat the fox, use the Faker action and touch the fake projectiles. They have a distinctive evil-looking tint. After a couple of turns, if you are still missing Mercy progress, use Kris' solo action, then spare the enemy with another character on the same turn.
After finishing the battle, go up one floor and enter the gate on the right. This will lead you to a secret chest with Revive Mint. Then go back down, use the arch, and climb the central stairs to run across the water one last time, knocking down several Floradinns along the way.
The next room contains a puzzle similar to the timer puzzle from earlier chapters. To complete it, you need to step on the glowing plates in time before the timer reaches zero. The first puzzle is easy: interact with the timer, press the plates, and remove the spikes on the right.
Another similar puzzle a little farther ahead will require four characters, which you do not have yet. Press the timer again to see a funny Ralsei sprite, then talk to him near the spikes. He will lead you into the next room, where Flowery and Susie will discuss a new plan.
Ralsei will tell Kris that they can turn off voice lines in the game settings. Among the settings, there will also be an option to turn off Ralsei. If you want to complete the next puzzle easily, do not use it. Go down, call out to Susie, and find the next puzzle below. If you did not turn Ralsei off, the little goat will instantly place all the boxes correctly. Otherwise, first move the leftmost box upward, then move the remaining boxes to the sides one by one.
Then climb the stairs on the right, talk to Susie, and watch the special cutscene with Ralsei. At the end, Flowery will meet you. With his help, solve the plate puzzle, watch the scene with Asgore, and go through the open passage in the corner. Follow the corridor upward, talk to Flowery one last time, and leave the Dark World to trigger a special animation. Save at the star and continue on.
