Elden Ring Tarnished Edition adds two new classes, FromSoftware reveals
Alongside its August 28, 2026 launch on Nintendo Switch 2, Elden Ring Tarnished Edition will add two new character classes and bring the extra content to PC and other platforms as a paid expansion on the same day.
The two new classes are Heavy Knight and Idus Knight. FromSoftware also said the expansion will include new mechanics, equipment, weapons, skills, and three Torrent skins.
Heavy Knight is built for players who prefer heavy armor. It starts at level 10 and comes with a powerful curved greatsword and a new armor set. After testing, FromSoftware adjusted the class further by raising its starting level and boosting Faith and Mind.
Idus Knight takes a different approach. The class starts at level 7 and comes with a new armor set, a shield, and Milady, the light greatsword from Shadow of the Erdtree.
Tarnished Edition will also introduce the area of Idus, which had not been mentioned previously in the Elden Ring universe. That makes the expansion more than just a class pack, even if the separate PC and other-platform release means it will not be limited to the Switch 2 version.
How do you feel about Tarnished Edition being sold separately on PC and other platforms instead of only bundled with the Switch 2 release?
