Modular Mini-PC for Work and Gaming Unveiled

Ninkear has announced the MBOX 8 Pro mini-PC, blending compactness with the capabilities of a full-fledged workstation. The device stands out not only for its performance but also for its modular system, which allows storage expansion without disassembling the case. The MBOX 8 Pro’s key feature is a magnetic compartment at the bottom of the chassis. An additional module can be attached here, accommodating a 3.5-inch drive and providing access to extra ports. This solution spares users from having to open the device for upgrades, preserving warranty integrity.

At the core of the mini-PC is the AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor, featuring 8 Zen 4 cores and integrated Radeon 780M graphics. Built using a 4nm process, the chip boosts up to 5.1 GHz and includes a neural processing unit (NPU) capable of 38 TOPS for AI tasks. This configuration ensures smooth performance for resource-intensive applications, video editing, and Full HD gaming at medium settings. The MBOX 8 Pro supports up to 32 GB of DDR5 RAM and comes with a 1 TB NVMe SSD. It features three video outputs (HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and USB-C), capable of delivering 8K@60 HDR output. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, while two Gigabit Ethernet ports make it versatile for both home and office use.

The mini-PC's design is reminiscent of the Xbox Series X, thanks to its perforated top panel and a red accent on one corner. Despite its compact size, the cooling system handles sustained loads effectively, as confirmed by the manufacturer’s tests. The Ninkear MBOX 8 Pro is already available, with the base version featuring 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD priced at €586. The device comes with Windows 11 Pro preinstalled but also supports Linux.
