Orange Pi Mini-PC Featuring Dual Huawei Processors Announced
Orange Pi has unveiled a mini-PC powered by the Huawei Ascend 310 processor, making it one of the first computers of this form factor to use a Huawei chip. This 64-bit ARM-based system-on-chip is claimed by the manufacturer to deliver up to 352 TOPS for machine learning tasks, a figure achieved by combining two processors in a single system.
A key highlight of this new device is its memory capacity. The base model comes with a hefty 96 GB of LPDDR4X RAM, while the top-tier version boasts 192 GB. This allows users to work with large models locally without constantly swapping data from external sources.
However, this compact size comes with a significant trade-off. Aside from the power port and a status light, the chassis features only a single USB 4.0 Type-C interface. This means users will need a dock or a USB hub to connect a monitor, storage drives, and other peripherals.
The mini-PC ships with Ubuntu 22.04 and Linux 5.15 as its software foundation. The manufacturer notes that the system is suitable for deploying models like Deepseek-R1 and can be used in fields such as IoT and smart transportation. It's also worth noting that the published specs make no mention of built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth modules, which could pose additional challenges for network connectivity.
The Orange Pi AI Studio is now available for order. The 96 GB RAM model starts at 6,800 yuan, while the Pro version with 192 GB of memory is priced at 15,700 yuan.
The arrival of such a device highlights the growing demand for local AI computing power. Despite the questionable ergonomics of its single-port design, its high performance and massive memory make it a practical tool for specialists who need a self-contained workstation for testing and running neural network models.
