Gothic 1 Remake does not have the built-in Marvin Mode from the original game, so to enter cheats and console commands, you need to unlock the console with a mod. In this guide, we will explain how to install the console mod, open the command input, and which codes to use for god mode, ore, items, time, weather, and other functions.
We covered the game itself in more detail in our Gothic 1 Remake review, and in a separate article, we looked back at the original Gothic from 2001.
How to Install the Console and Cheats Mod
The process is as follows:
- Download the mod archive.
- Open Steam and find Gothic 1 Remake in your library.
- Right-click the game. Select Manage, then Browse local files.
- Open the G1R\Content\Paks\ folder and copy the mod files there.
To open the console, press F1. If it does not open, check the following:
- The UE4SS manager must not be installed.
- Make sure the mod files are in the Paks folder.
- Restart the game.
- Verify the integrity of the game files in Steam.

If a command does not work, check your keyboard layout, spelling, and whether the console unlocker mod is installed. Also make sure you are launching the game without UE4SS, otherwise console commands may not work.
