A new mod for Baldur's Gate 3 allows players to choose a mind flayer, also known as Illithids, as a playable race. This new race is fully functional in both single-player and multiplayer modes, though the author has not added a description for it in the character editor.

Installation: extract the archive to the Documents \ Larian Studios \ Baldur's Gate 3 \ Mods folder.
