Breathedge

Breathedge is a science fiction adventure action game with a first-person view and survival elements. The game tells the story of an ordinary guy and his pet who crash in open space and must now survive. In a sea of flying debris and corpses, you will have to create your own space home and start a new life together with the chicken that the main character's late grandfather loved so much. The game features a well-developed crafting system, the ability to create your own dwelling, and even control a space vehicle.

A single-player survival game in open space, Breathedge was released in early access on Steam on September 13, 2018. The full version of the game is expected to be released a year later. Players are invited to take on the role of an ordinary engineer who survived the crash of a spaceship.

To survive, you will need to explore space, find and collect resources, craft items from them, solve puzzles, and listen to ironic remarks that turn into dark humor. Breathedge is developed on the Unreal Engine 4, providing a high level of graphics.

The events of Breathedge take place in 2073. The spaceship that the protagonist travels on crashes deep in space, hundreds of light-years away from inhabited systems. The only survivor envies the dead – he has to secure his existence by exploring all sections of the destroyed ship, collecting corpses, and rummaging through debris.

Breathedge offers a large open world to explore, containing not only a huge spaceship but also several asteroids that are also available for resource gathering.

Details of the plot of Breathedge are still unknown. The backstory is as follows: the hero is transporting his grandfather's body for burial, but an explosion occurs on the ship. Now he needs to find the coffin with his grandfather and deliver it to a space funeral in another system – this task will be central to the plot.

As for secondary storylines, the script features a certain princess that must be rescued. You will also need to uncover the reasons for the ship's crash and even expose an interplanetary conspiracy.

The main character is named Guy – he is a typical ordinary person who finds himself in an unusual and very life-threatening situation. But it's not all bad – thanks to the built-in artificial intelligence in the spacesuit, Guy can survive.

This peculiar partner not only fills every situation with sparkling humor but also provides practical advice – where to go, where and what to gather, suggests the necessary tool, and explains what should be built or created.

There is also a little chicken – the main character's lifesaver, which will come in handy to plug a leak or pass a retina scanner.

The gameplay of Breathedge is standard for survival games: We gather or extract resources and consumables, as well as recipes, create items from them, and gain the ability to obtain even more resources. Ultimately, the player must develop the character to its maximum.

As is traditional in the genre, the protagonist needs to be cared for – fed and watered, have a sufficient supply of oxygen, and be protected from dangers such as fire, radiation, or frostbite, which damage health.

Each item has a durability reserve, and once depleted, the object must be repaired or a new one created. Some items, like the spacesuit, can be upgraded by adding oxygen tanks or protection. The crafting system is similar to other games in the genre, with the only standout being the constant use of blue duct tape, so familiar to domestic players.

All items are stored in the player's spacious backpack, but excess can be offloaded into storage at the base. While traveling the world, it's important to correctly place oxygen stations and plan actions ahead, including time, or one can quickly and painfully die.

In the future, the developers will add new gameplay features, resources, and items.
