A turn-based operational strategy game set on the Eastern Front in 1942, covering the German advance toward Stalingrad and the Caucasus and the Soviet winter counteroffensive that altered the course of the campaign. Its historical scenarios include the summer offensive, its May preludes, and Operation Uranus, which ended with the encirclement of the 6th Army at Stalingrad.
Players command forces across large campaigns and smaller scenarios, where the order of battle and the campaign’s direction can depend on their performance. An optional high command order system places the player in the role of a historical commander and assigns challenging objectives. The game also includes play-by-email multiplayer and a scenario editor.
