As someone who was hooked on Dying Light from the first game and still hasn't let go, I simply have to speak up. The Beast is exactly what my soul was craving. I stayed up until three in the morning, playing mission after mission, and it was impossible to tear myself away.
Look, the story: Crane returns, and he's no longer just a survivor with a bat; he's become something more. His beastly nature awakens, and it's not just a plot device—it actually works. You run around the map, tearing apart infected with your bare hands, roaring, jumping like a man possessed, and it feels damn cool. It's like you've finally been given that power you so desperately needed while hiding on the rooftops in the first game.
The Poles have once again revealed their creative impotence, spitting out what was originally planned as a standard story DLC for Part 2 under the guise of a standalone game. A soulless reskin, the only major innovation being a dreary attempt to capitalize on cheap nostalgia and dig up a flight attendant in the form of Kyle Crane, who was somehow turned into a spineless errand boy for strong and independent women. Parkour has been safely buried, replacing a proper city with endless empty fields through which you're forced to trudge gloomily in a cardboard pickup truck that stalls after hitting a wooden fence and drains its fuel tank in two minutes. Dark zones have been casualized beyond belief, turning into a stuffy vent-climbing simulator, and the much-hyped Beast mode has turned out to b… Read full
Read full
