East India Company is a real-time strategy game about maritime trade and the struggle for control of routes between Europe and the Far East in the 17th century. Players choose one of eight European nations and build a trading empire by moving goods such as spices, silk, and tea, negotiating trade agreements, and managing resources.
Ports can be built and upgraded, while fleets of different ship classes serve both trade and combat. Assigning fleets to routes keeps goods flowing, but rival nations and pirates pose a threat. In naval battles, players can issue orders from an RTS perspective or take direct control of a single ship, firing broadsides and boarding enemy vessels. The game includes single-player and multiplayer modes.
