The reason for the success of the recently acclaimed interactive comedy Dispatch is a good plot and affordable mechanics. The developers of the project Dennis Lenart and Chris Rebbert told about this in an interview with Kotaku.

Dispatch has become a phenomenon this fall. In less than a month, more than two million people have played it. According to Dennis Lenart, the thing is that people still like really good story games.

Chris Rebbert added that simplicity and accessibility have become rare phenomena in games. Dispatch is a very straightforward game, and that's what many gamers wanted.

«I think when we talk about our favorite games, we always talk about, ‘I just want a linear experience. I don’t want to come jump in and compete.’ And not to say those experiences shouldn’t be available for those who enjoy them, but I feel like a lot of people would like to have experiences like this, where they can just jump in and have a personal singular or linear playthrough or whatever it might be that is uninhibited by microtransactions and stuff like that» — says Rebbert.

Earlier, the authors of Dispatch reported that they regretted cutting out erotic scenes — the players turned out to be too «eager for romance»
