Windows Central says an early build of Garrison, Microsoft's redesigned Xbox app for Windows PC, is already in testing, and the company could roll it out to Xbox Insiders on PC in the coming weeks.
Game pages and store listings now live in a single interface instead of separate screens. That layout also makes it easier to see whether a title can be installed or is available only through Xbox Cloud Gaming.
The app supports mouse, keyboard, and controller input. It can also be set as the home screen for Windows 11's Game Mode, with the interface switching to controller scaling; Microsoft has also been working on a Windows 11 gaming interface for handheld.
The early build has few new functions so far, with its main changes focused on performance and usability. Separately, Microsoft began testing an Xbox Cloud Gaming interface codenamed Bastion over the summer, aiming to bring the service closer to the Xbox Series X|S experience.
Could faster loading and simpler navigation make Garrison a more appealing way to use the Xbox app on PC?
