Elden Ring Nightreign: How to Solve the Mage Tower Puzzle

While exploring the map of Limveld in Elden Ring Nightreign, you’ll come across various points of interest that aren’t always obvious. Some of them give you resources for leveling up and progression. Others, at first glance, look like ordinary decorations. But that’s far from the truth. In this guide, we’ll explain what to do with Mage Towers and how to claim their potential for yourself.
Mage Towers in Elden Ring Nightreign are special puzzles hiding treasures inside. You need to figure out how to open the mystical door that blocks the entrance, namely: find and destroy the crests. Sometimes you’ll find towers with already open doors, but most likely your party members did all the work for you.
How to Open the Door in a Mage Tower
Most often, the door to the Mage Tower is sealed with a wall of blue light. Usually, you just need to solve a small crest puzzle to remove the barrier. Here are a few conditions that may randomly appear during an expedition:
- If there’s no crest on the barrier, it’s a fake wall. Just walk straight through, and the tower will let you inside.
- If the crest is above the door, you need to jump up and press the attack button to break it. It’s much easier to do this with a ranged weapon.
- If there’s a podium at the very bottom of the steps, you need to strike it to remove the barrier.
- Sometimes an extra hut appears near the Mage Tower. If so, you need to destroy the crest inside it.
- To the left of the tower, trees may spawn that move in a creepy way. You need to search this grove to find a hidden crest. Destroy it.
- Sometimes, instead of a group of trees, only one dead tree appears. Approach it and destroy it with your weapon.
- If a lake spawns near the Mage Tower, you need to walk around it and look for the crest’s reflection. Jump right at that spot to destroy the item and remove the barrier.
- Most often, crests will appear inside tree trunks. If you approach the Mage Tower from the front, you’ll notice the trunk right away. But sometimes they spawn a bit farther from the entrance. Occasionally, the crest appears on the branches.
Crests Inside the Tower
When you open the passage into the Tower, you’ll gain access to several useful items. Sometimes the best treasure will be hidden behind another crest. You need to examine the doorway and inspect it. If you see an extinguished candlestick instead of a lit one, the crest is right behind it. Destroy the item to unlock valuable treasures.
There are cases where the candlestick is burning as it should. In that case, inspect the painting on the right side of the section. There should be a statue nearby. If it’s not there, it’s an illusion wall. Strike it to dispel the magic and find the crest behind it.
