Sometimes, special events occur on the world map that completely change the landscape of Limveld. They are called “Earthshift” (Shifting Earth). These places contain very rare items, and you can also upgrade your weapon to Legendary status there. You’ll get your first event after defeating the first boss. The rest will unlock after killing two final opponents. In this guide, we’ll talk about all the “Earthshift” events in Elden Ring Nightreign and the items you can obtain.
Crater
When this event occurs, a huge crack appears on the map, with tongues of flame erupting from it. You need to descend to the very bottom of the crater to interact with the ancient forge. Along the way, you’ll encounter monks, chariots, and fire bosses. You can assess the scale of the location by switching zones on the mini-map.
To descend into the crater, you need to walk along the outer edge. Kill the fire monks and the sorcerers accompanying them. Defeat the large opponents with burning helmets to receive especially valuable rewards. As you progress downward, you’ll reach a zone with golden mist. Behind it, there will be three bosses. You need to kill them to proceed further down.
In the next zone, there will be Fire Chariots and Creepy Fingers. These mini-bosses take a long time to kill due to their large health bars, so run past them and turn left, where you’ll find a bonfire. Then jump down and move to the right, where the central altar is located.
At the bottom is a forge guarded by the “Magma Serpent.” Kill it to reach the forge. Here, you can upgrade your weapon to Legendary status.
Mountaintop
When the “Mountaintop” event appears, an icy mountain shrouded in a storm appears on the map. Head straight into the blizzard to get a buff that halves damage taken and frost buildup, allowing you to boost your damage. You need to reach the very top to get special upgrades.
There are several ways to reach the summit:
- Go through the central canyon past the Ice Troll fighting a dragon. You’ll need to jump onto the back part of the wall to reach the top.
- The second path is the longest but also the easiest. You’ll skip most enemy encounters. Just walk past the dragon to cross the chains.
- You can also climb up the right side of the mountain. This is the safest, but the most difficult in terms of platforming.
As you progress, various enemies will attack you, dropping good items and a large number of runes. Try to avoid trolls and dragons so as not to waste precious time.
There will also be a dragon boss sitting at the summit, surrounded by an icy storm. It will constantly inflict frostbite on your group. Before fighting it, you must pick up the blessing located nearby.
Rotted Woods
In this event, the “Rotted Woods” appear in the southeastern part of the map. As you explore them, you will accumulate the “Scarlet Rot” debuff. To slow the buildup of the meter, use the plants scattered throughout the area. However, it’s worth going through this zone to receive a powerful blessing and good rewards for defeating the bosses.
To get a special buff, you need to solve a small puzzle. First, head to the Fort marked on your map. This area is filled with Godrick’s soldiers, so try to move as quickly as possible to avoid wasting time. You need to grab the reconnaissance table, which is on the second floor. It will reveal the location of the blessing, adding a marker to your mini-map. Now you can go to the spot and pick up the enhancement.
The “Blessing of the Rotted Woods” increases your health, making it one of the best buffs in the game. You’ll also get a weapon that inflicts the “Scarlet Rot” debuff. This thing is especially useful against bosses, as it deals a lot of damage.
There are also many mini-bosses in the forest. They are quite tough even for professionals, but for victory, you’ll get very significant rewards. After receiving the “Blessing of the Rotted Woods,” go clear the map and collect all useful items to finally kill the last opponent.
Noklateo
Noklateo is a huge city filled with various enemies. It’s the most unusual event in Elden Ring Nightreign. The main thing is to watch your received damage, as every enemy attack inflicts Death Blight, which instantly kills your character. There are many interesting places in the location, so you won’t be able to explore everything in one go.
While exploring the city, you’ll constantly encounter different mini-bosses. You can defeat them for valuable rewards, but we recommend avoiding them so as not to waste time. The event features a special altar where you can duplicate any weapon. This is a great way to multiply a sword and hand out copies to allies. You’ll also have the chance to obtain a legendary stance or a special passive.
In the main hall of the central cathedral, a special boss will be waiting for you — Astel. He wields the power of gravity and has a variety of attacks. Beware of his tail strikes. Sometimes, he will leave trails of purple smoke that explode after a short time. When the boss creates a purple sphere in his mouth, be ready to dodge a beam attack.
If you see a crackling in the air — immediately move away from the boss! He will use a gravity attack that throws all players into the air and then powerfully slams them into the arena. After defeating Astel, you will gain access to the altar that grants the gift of the city. You’ll be able to revive once per fight, receiving an excellent damage buff.
Skipping Shifting Earth Events
You can skip the Shifting Earth event by sleeping in beds in the lobby. This will remove difficult zones and risky situations, returning the map to its previous state.
