Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2: Complete Romance Guide
Vladislav Sham
Since the dialogue in Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines 2 occasionally features a "flirt" option, many players wonder: how and with whom can you develop it? The game itself doesn't provide any clear hints, so we've prepared a guide where we describe all available romances.
Who You Can Flirt With
You'll gain access to flirting as soon as you receive the position of sheriff. The objects of interest are the clan ability teachers. However, if you're expecting the usual relationship progression and an intimate scene at the end, we have to disappoint you. There's nothing even close to that. The developers stated before release that in the World of Darkness, vampires don't have the usual attraction to the opposite sex. Flirting leads to romantic feeding—an intimate process where lovers feed on each other.
Unfortunately, even this is not present in the game, so the culmination of courtship will be a darkened screen and a couple of characteristic remarks in the background. During the process, you'll exchange a few ambiguous jokes and won't even learn any special, secret information about the NPC that would affect the ending. Whether it's worth spending your time and effort on this is up to you, but it's important to note that the process of "relationship" development is not the most obvious.
Let's start by identifying the objects of interest:
- Fletcher — bar owner, sits at the piano
- Mrs. Thorn — coffee shop owner, stands behind the counter
- Niko — pawnshop owner, stands behind the counter
- Onda — Lou Graham's bodyguard, stands in front of the elevator to the penthouse
- Patience — artist in the pawnshop, can be found in the back room
- Silky — nightclub owner, sits on the second floor
- Sophia — most often found in the coffee shop or during the story
Unfortunately, only flirting with Sophia provides some new information about what's happening, so do it whenever you can. Also, the game doesn't punish you for developing flirt with different characters.
How to Level Up Flirt
First, and most importantly—complete the corresponding side missions. All of them are described in our guide and are strictly limited for each character. It's the additional quests and their completion that will improve your relationships the most. With Patience, for example, there is only one quest—to find 9 crosses, and only after that will your dialogue with her progress.
The second important nuance—you won't be able to reach the "intimate scene" before a certain number of nights have passed. Each time, you'll be given a limited number of side quests, after which you'll have to progress the main story. This way, nights will pass and new quests will appear.
So, you meet all the characters on the first night of your "sheriffhood." It's important to choose the phrases that the characters will like. This system works rather poorly in the game, and it's not always possible to predict which remark is liked and which is not. In general, you can form a few patterns:
- Fletcher appreciates politeness and manners.
- Mrs. Thorn shouldn't have to justify her authority, as the old lady is actually quite ambitious.
- Niko is extremely mysterious, but in reality loves people—keep this in mind during dialogues and don't treat them like meat.
- Onda values strength and resourcefulness. She'll appreciate it if you compliment her professional skills.
- Patience won't approve of excessive pomp and arrogance.
- Silky also values straightforwardness and simplicity.
- Sophia is very gentle and easily hurt.
Overall, you need to flirt three times, after which the game will count it as a success. After that, talk once more and the option for intimate feeding will become available.
