Blackbeard's Treasure Hunt is a new quest in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced that is more difficult than a standard treasure hunt. In this guide, we will explain how to start it, where to look for the cache in Anotto Bay, and what reward you can get at the end.
How to Start the Blackbeard's Treasure Quest
The Blackbeard's Treasure quest becomes available after the mission "Do Not Go Gently", Sequence 8, Memory 1. Edward will automatically find the map in Thatch's hat, but there will be no coordinates on it. You will have to find the place yourself. This makes the quest very different from all the other treasures and the usual process of finding them. In our big guide for this part of Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, we covered all standard caches and how to find them in detail. Usually, the coordinates are always shown on the right side of the map, so you do not need to memorize every island.
How to Find Blackbeard's Treasure
You need to reach Anotto Bay at coordinates 590, 245. The bay is located north of Kingston, in the Charlotte region. First, you will run into competitors: other pirates are also looking for Blackbeard's treasure. Sink their ships, then dock at the port.
Once on shore, turn left. There will be enemies right away, and boats slightly below. On one of the beams, you will find a note pinned with a knife, saying that the treasure is underwater. Jump into the water between the boats and reach the flooded mine. This is a standard underwater exploration section, where you will encounter sharks and stinging jellyfish.
Swim through the tunnels until you reach a spacious cave. Another group of enemies will be waiting there. Deal with them, then pay attention to the explosive barrels. Examine the room using Focus: part of the wall should be marked with the green glow of the main objective, and the rocks in that spot look less natural than the surrounding stone. Carry a barrel there and blow it up to clear the path.
Next, you will face Blackbeard's pilot and another group of enemies. Defeat them, grab a new barrel, and keep to the right of the waterfall. There is another blocked passage there. Destroy it, and you will finally find Edward Thatch's treasure.
Quest Reward
You will not receive the reward immediately. Return to the manor on Great Inagua so the quest is marked as completed. After that, you will receive Blackbeard's Portrait, which can be hung on the wall. The true reward, however, is more story-driven. The chest contains farming supplies. With them, you will fulfill Thatch and Edward's dream of building a separate free pirate state, even if no longer in Nassau. Your manor and the surrounding territory will change, although there will be no gameplay changes.
