Gearbox Software has announced that Borderlands 4 will launch nearly two weeks ahead of schedule. The new release date is set for September 12.
The news was revealed prematurely on social media, as Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford later deleted the announcement video. In the same post, he noted that Borderlands 4 will be featured at the next State of Play event.
The game is being published by 2K, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive. It's possible the earlier release date was chosen to clear the way for GTA 6's fall launch.
Borderlands 4 will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
