Dark Souls Remastered

Dark Souls Remastered is a re-release of a hardcore role-playing action game with a third-person view set in a fantasy world. The game takes place in the fictional kingdom of Lordran, reminiscent of medieval Europe. You will need to stop a curse that turns everyone into undead. To do this, you will have to defeat many very strong opponents and die multiple times, losing all the accumulated points for upgrades and starting over from the last checkpoint.

Dark Souls Remastered is a role-playing game with elements of action and survival, set in a dark fantasy universe, released for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 24, 2018, and for Nintendo Switch in the summer of 2018. It simultaneously serves as a re-release of Dark Souls from 2011 and the PC version Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition, released in 2012, and also includes the expansion Artorias of the Abyss.

The level of changes in the remaster is superficial, with only minor improvements made to graphics, gameplay, and online mode. The original content remains untouched, and no new quests or bosses have been added. The core gameplay formula and its slow, measured pace are preserved, which may surprise those who have played Dark Souls 3 or Bloodborne.

In terms of graphics quality, the changes are minor, aimed at covering current platforms. Support for 4K resolution at 60 FPS has been added for PC, PS4 Pro, and XOne X. On Nintendo Switch, the remaster runs in FullHD at 30 FPS. Lighting has been improved in all locations, enhancing the play of light and shadow. Equipment models have been redesigned to reflect light from dynamic sources.

Only the worst textures have been replaced or improved, with most remaining unchanged. Character, enemy, and boss models have not been enhanced, and the animation remains the same. The game world is still divided into large levels with spacious areas and narrow passages.

For greater convenience and visual comfort, the user interface has been refined and can be scaled to personal preference. A number of changes have also been made for PC and Switch; for example, on PC, buttons and combinations can be remapped to customize controls.

The PC version of Dark Souls Remastered is considered the best, as players can adjust resolution, anti-aliasing, render type, buffering, and options like motion blur and depth of field.

The developers have made numerous small adjustments to make it a bit more convenient for players, and here are the most important ones. You can change covenants (similar to clans) at bonfires. The ability to quickly switch to the first item in the quick access bar has been added. Weapon upgrade dependencies and several types of upgrades have been introduced from Dark Souls 3.

You can use multiple consumable items at once, but healing items do not work in another player's world (except for Estus). Players cannot summon phantoms repeatedly during a fight with an enemy phantom.

A dedicated server is used for player matchmaking, after which players connect via p2p, as in the new games of the series. The quality and stability of the connection have significantly improved, especially compared to the Prepare to Die Edition.

Up to 6 players can play together. A password entry feature has been added, and minor gameplay balancing has been conducted based on the levels of players and the world host. Now you can play together even with a large difference in character strength.

The "Arena" has been diversified with the new "Team Battle" mode, where two teams of three players each face off, and "Deathmatch," where six players fight to the death. Players now spawn in random, rather than predetermined, locations. Arena battles are now also possible only between friends, thanks to the password entry.
