A set of ready-made configuration settings for the Engine.ini file, specially designed for Gothic 1 Remake. This modification aims to eliminate micro-stutters, optimize streaming of game assets and textures, and smooth out frame-time for maximum gameplay fluidity.
This is purely a technical engine optimization and does not affect gameplay or content.
Available versions to choose from:
You can install only one of the three configuration options:
- 1. Lossless Engine Tweaks:
The safest, basic version. Focuses on frame-time stability, optimization of asynchronous data loading, shader caching, and fine-tuning of memory cleanup (Garbage Collection). Visual quality is not reduced. - 2. Lossless Engine Tweaks with Visual Clarity:
Includes all optimizations from the first version, but additionally disables blur and “cinematic” effects: motion blur, film grain, chromatic aberration, vignette, depth of field (DoF), bloom, and lens flares. Eye adaptation and the signature Gothic fog remain enabled to preserve the atmosphere. - 3. Performance Engine Tweaks:
A version with partial graphics reduction for increased FPS. Reduces load from demanding systems: global illumination (GI), reflections, shadows, effect quality, grass density, and draw distance. Fog is not completely disabled. Recommended only if high FPS is more important to you than original visuals.
Installation instructions:
Path to the configuration folder: %LOCALAPPDATA%\G1R\Saved\Config\Windows\
- Launch the game at least once so it creates the necessary settings files, then close it.
- Go to the configuration folder. To do this, press Win + R, paste %LOCALAPPDATA%\G1R\Saved\Config\Windows\ into the window, and press Enter.
- Back up your original Engine.ini file (if it exists) and save it in a safe place.
- Choose one of the three mod versions and copy the modified Engine.ini file into this folder, replacing the original.
- Right-click the copied Engine.ini file, select “Properties,” check the “Read-only” box, and click “Apply.” This will prevent the game from overwriting your settings.
What to check during testing: after installation, run around the world and evaluate the smoothness of the game during sharp camera turns, speed of texture loading when moving between locations (caves, camps, forests), and the absence of sudden frame drops.
