The game continues the story of Samus Aran, sending her to an unexplored area of space where familiar rules cease to apply. After a distress signal, the hunter finds herself in a region hidden behind a spatial anomaly. This place, beyond known maps, is shrouded in energy storms, strange structures, and entities that disrupt the very nature of reality. Following the missing squad of the Galactic Federation, Samus delves into exploring a world that operates by its own laws and reacts to every action.
The gameplay foundation relies on the traditions of the series: exploring interconnected zones, searching for upgrades, and gradually uncovering the world. However, in Beyond, each new ability not only opens the way forward but also changes the environment itself. Biomes behave differently as progress is made, enemies adapt, and anomalous energies allow Samus to temporarily distort space, revealing unconventional routes. Along with this, a new line of suit abilities emerges, enhancing both mobility and tactical options in combat.
Enemies are not just inhabitants of an alien planet but unstable life forms arising from energy rifts. Their behavior is unpredictable, and their weaknesses depend on the state of the anomaly. This creates a sense of constant threat and emphasizes the theme of exploring the unknown. Battles require attentiveness, while studying the surroundings demands patience and observation.
As progress continues, it becomes clear that the anomaly is not a natural phenomenon. Behind its appearance lies a force connected to Samus's past, and to prevent a catastrophe of cosmic proportions, she must undergo a series of trials where the line between the familiar and the impossible gradually blurs.
