The quest begins when you arrive in the vicinity of Bakbattal and converse with Menella. After obtaining a pass to the city, head to its central part. Right at the gates, there's a high chance a griffin will attack the player. Whether to fight it or not is up to you. If you're confident in your abilities and want to level up quickly, fighting is the best option. Additionally, defeating it will grant you rare resources like the Great Griffin's Claw and Griffin's Feather.

At the city gates, the hero will once again meet the Guide, who had appeared earlier if you decided to journey to Bakbattal on foot. The path goes through the city's Residential District, from where you'll reach the shore and meet Ambrosius.

The explorer will ask you to collect several shards of blue crystals scattered near the water. To update the quest, find at least four pieces and hand over one. He will direct the protagonist to the Dragonborn, who awaits you in a nearby cave. You can ask him numerous questions during the conversation. If you just want to continue your journey, ask about the Voice of the Sovereign. A marker will appear on the map, indicating where you need to go to learn more details.
