Episode 9

Return to the group chat and talk about the strange call that ended the previous episode:

  • It was the faceless man;
  • It was the attacker. (Correct).

Cleo will ask what the attacker said:

  • Don't even want to repeat it;
  • Wants to kill you. (Correct).
  • (Say nothing).

If you chose the second option, then in continuation of the dialogue:

  • All of you;
  • He called you all by names. (Correct).

Next, choose:

  • And he will make me watch (Correct);
  • (Say nothing).

Jessie will ask if this could be revenge for what they and Thomas did:

  • Yes;
  • Not necessarily. (Correct);
  • (Say nothing).

If you chose the second option, then note that the attacker has threatened you more than once. Ask Lily if she managed to call the police officers who were supposed to visit Michael Hanson's house. One of the officers assured her of this:

  • Good;
  • Okay, then let's get back to business;
  • Was this officer by any chance named Alan? (Lily didn't ask the officer's name).

Lily will insist that the police will soon arrive at that ill-fated house and arrest the criminal, but Jake will intervene in the conversation. The guy will note that we can't be sure of this:

  • Jake is right;
  • Our criminal is very cautious. (Correct);
  • We can't know for sure, but we can hope.

If you chose the second option:

  • In the worst case, he'll just get rid of the evidence. (Correct);
  • It would be foolish to just hope this is the end;
  • I'm sure he'll run away.

Lastly, you may say that he's likely already getting rid of the evidence. Lily and Dan will suggest rushing to the house in the forest that Richie rented the day before his disappearance. But Jake will intervene again, asking not to take all threats seriously:

  • I know what it's worth;
  • Jay, this time it's different;
  • Too much has happened to ignore all the threats. (Correct).

Ask Jake if the hacker overheard the criminal's call. When he responds positively, you can note another detail:

  • By the way, he didn't say anything about you, Jake. (Correct);
  • (Say nothing).

Friends will again be divided into two camps. Some will be for going to the house in the forest, and others against. Thomas will try to have his say:

  • Your safety is paramount;
  • If you go there right now, it will be the end of our investigation;
  • What's up, Thomas? (Correct, let Thomas speak).

If you let Thomas speak, he will say that he got Hannah's phone. Ask if the missing girl's phone was in Michael's house. Thomas will tell where and how he got the phone but will complain that he can't turn it on:

  • God giveth, God taketh away;
  • Probably the battery is dead. (Correct);
  • Broken?

Jake will ask to urgently connect Hannah's phone to the power supply and charge it at least up to 20%. Ask Jake:

  • What are you planning to do with Hannah's phone? (Correct);
  • (Say nothing).

The hacker will respond that the phone could be a crucial piece of evidence in the girl's disappearance case, so he wants to create a controlled environment for the investigation. Lily will still insist on leaving Duskwood as soon as possible. Remind her of Richie's words:

  • See you later!
  • You can return to Duskwood at any time. (Correct);
  • Always do what the 'main character' says, no matter what happens.

Eventually, your friends will consider your suggestion and agree to leave the city for a few days. Cleo will say that she can't go with everyone just yet because she needs to attend a festival organized by her mother.

  • Oh, I understand;
  • But you're not going to help this time? (Cleo will say she wants to see her mother one last time);
  • Just don't be too late, okay?

Jessie will remind everyone about the photos she took in the criminal's hideout. She wants to go home and upload them to the internet for public access:

  • Listen, that can wait. (The hacker will disagree with you);
  • Great idea. (The hacker will agree with you);
  • Wow, I can't wait to see them.

After this lengthy dialogue, you need to go to the Cloud section and solve a few mini-games. You can solve all the games at once so that you won't be distracted by them during the subsequent playthrough.

When you're done with the cloud, Jessie will message you. The girl will send a link to the photos from her phone. They will become accessible a bit later, but for now, you need to chat with the other friends.

Finally, you can open a small scene with Jessie if you have the multimedia pack available:

  • You're so brave, Jessie. (The girl will confess she was thinking about you all the time while taking these shots);
  • Alright, good luck;
  • I won't keep you any longer.

After that, Jake will message you. The hacker will ask about Michael Hanson:

  • Yes. Most likely;
  • Honestly, I'm not sure yet;
  • No, Michael Hanson is not our guy (Suggest this option to eliminate all suspicions).

If you choose neutrality, Jake will also agree with you but will still suggest checking a few theories. Choosing the last option, the hacker will suggest acting decisively. At that moment, Jake will connect your smartphone to his PC and will broadcast everything happening on the desktop.

Respond to Jake about what you think of his idea of screen broadcasting and start examining the images taken by Jessie.

First photo

The first photo of the house and road will appear on your screen. Select three marked places on the photo:

  • House window.
  • Road.
  • Forest.

Choosing House window:

  • Apparently, no one has taken care of it for a long time;
  • Jessie noticed that too. (Correct);
  • This place seems very dangerous to me.

Choosing Road:

  • Have you been there already? (Jake hasn't been there but definitely has seen this place);
  • Seems like there are many similar places in Duskwood;
  • (Say nothing).

Choosing Forest:

  • So no one will hear any screams or noise;
  • The perfect place to lay low. (Correct).

Second photo

Select the barn on the screen and tell Jake that Thomas and Jessica escaped the same way they got in.

**Fourth photograph**

We skip the third photograph since it again captures a building. On the fourth photograph, we mark bunker:

  • It's a pity that Hanna wasn't there;
  • What if Hanna was there, but he moved her to another location? (Jake will disagree with this theory and say if Hanna and Richie are not in the kidnapper's house, where else could they be?).

On the sixth photograph, Jake will ask why you didn't tell Jessica that the criminal indeed killed Richie?

  • I couldn't;
  • You think I should have? (Correct);
  • No, of course not.

Continuing the dialogue:

  • I don't want it to harm our relationship;
  • Yet, I can't tell her something like that;
  • Have you ever had to deal with something like this personally? (Jake will say that it's only your decision for the first and second responses).

**Seventh photograph**

On the photograph, you will see two barrels. Select three places of interest:

  • The top part of the barrel.
  • The bottom part of the barrel.
  • The sticker on the barrel.

Choosing The top part of the barrel:

  • Overall, they look pretty new;
  • Yeah, I think so too;
  • Not a scratch on them (Jake will note that they are about 200 liters in volume).

Choosing The bottom part of the barrel:

  • I don't think that's important;
  • Maybe you can enhance the image quality? (This might take quite some time).

Choosing The sticker on the barrel:

  • I think it's poison;
  • Maybe those signs are just there to ward off the curious. (So no one finds out what's inside);
  • (Say nothing).

**Ninth photograph**

On this photograph, you can only select one interactive object:

  • This is definitely the work of a psychopath;
  • Must have taken him quite some time to gather all this. (Correct);
  • (Say nothing).

**Eleventh photograph**

On this photograph, you can select four interactive objects:

  • Photo of a crow;
  • Photo of Lily;
  • City map;
  • Photo of a man.

Choosing Photo of a crow:

  • A crow's feather;
  • This is definitely our criminal's hideout. (Correct);
  • (Say nothing).

Choosing Photo of Lily:

  • Notice how she's turning around? (Then — As if she knows she's being watched);
  • What did she see there?

Choosing City map:

  • Apparently, it's a map of Duskwood. (Then — The criminal has the same map as you and me);
  • (Say nothing).

Choosing Photo of a man. Choosing this photo, you dare to name Richie. Then Jake will ask why you think it's him:

  • Just know;
  • Recognized him by the hat (cap). (Correct);
  • Looks a lot like him.

Twelfth photograph

Continue examining the photos of the stand with images of friends. In the next photo, you will see three interactive objects:

  1. Photo of Thomas.
  2. Photo of Jessica.
  3. The bill (All the important information from the bill was smeared so that nothing could be made out).

Choice Photo of Thomas:

  • Yes, that's definitely him.
  • I just realized that I never knew his last name all this time. (Next — It's strange to learn it from the criminal).

Choice Photo of Jessica:

  • It's like she noticed the stalker. (Jake is sure that the criminal was hiding when he took this photo);
  • I wonder where she is going?
  • (Say nothing).

On the next photo, examine the unfinished inscription reven... and look at other photos. Eventually, you will conclude that the criminal was likely seeking revenge for the death of a loved one:

  • That's why everyone was targeted;
  • Because the police didn't help him;
  • To take revenge on them. (Correct).

You have guesses why the kidnapper started all this. After all, Jennifer Hanson's killer was never found:

  • Cleo also suspected something like this;
  • Everything points to our criminal being Michael Hanson. (Jake will disagree with you);
  • (Say nothing).

On the next photo, you will see a paper with your name. The available options will not affect the plot. Jake will disconnect you from his desktop, and you will return to the usual mobile menu.

Jake will ask not to jump to conclusions and will say that Thomas receiving Hanna's missing phone at Michael's house was just a lucky coincidence:

  • Hmm, so lucky that it's hard to believe. (Choose this option if you want to develop the thought);
  • Completely agree;
  • (Say nothing).

If you chose the first option:

  • Well, I didn't see any phone in that room. (Next — Just like Jessie);
  • No, nothing.

Jake will ask if you think that the phone was already with Thomas? And the friend just decided to take advantage of the moment:

  • Yes, I think so. (Next — He lied about finding it in Michael's house);
  • No, he would have mentioned it long ago;
  • It doesn't make sense.

Since you have no clear evidence of Thomas's guilt, you can choose not to develop this version. Soon, you will see personal correspondence between Thomas and Lily, after which you can return to the group chat and continue the conversation.

Cleo will arrive at the scene first, so she will suggest you examine the house:

  • Definitely. (Access to the multimedia package is required);
  • Do we have time for that?
  • Honestly, I don't really care.

If you choose the first option, you will be able to go to a private chat with Cleo and look at photos of the country house. Continue examining photos and videos from Cleo until Jessie writes in the group chat.

  • Did you get lost too?
  • Where have you been?
  • Welcome to your secret lair.

Jessie will tell you that the upload of some photos from the kidnapper's house was canceled:

  • Why did you only notice this now?
  • Jake and I would have taken a break anyway;
  • Such errors cause us to lose precious time;
  • Don't worry, it's not a big deal. (Jessie will promise to start the upload again right away).

Ask the girl to message you when the photo upload is complete. After some time, Thomas will message you. He will say that Hanna's phone has charged up to exactly 20%.

  • Super, thanks, Thomas;
  • But I don't know what Jake plans to do next;
  • But why are you telling me about this and not Jake? (Correct, since Jake asked to be contacted).

Thomas will say that he has turned on the phone, but it is locked with a PIN code:

  • Jake said not to do that. (Correct);
  • I hope you didn't break anything;
  • (Say nothing).

Jake will ask you to figure out Hanna's phone PIN code by yourself, as cracking the digital code would take him a lot of extra time. You can ask Thomas:

  • Do you happen to know Hanna's phone PIN code? (Thomas will answer that he doesn't know the PIN code);
  • Well, Thomas, since you're here...
  • (Say nothing).

Jake will note that you have only three attempts to unlock Hanna's phone. Move to a dialogue with Lily and ask her about the PIN code. She will suggest you to decide whose birthday Hanna might have set as the phone's PIN:

  • Your mom's. (This is the wrong PIN code);
  • Which do you think is most likely? (If you ask for Lily's birthday, this code will also be invalid);
  • Definitely Thomas's. (This is the wrong PIN code);
  • Your dad's, maybe. (This is the wrong PIN code).

Move to a dialogue with Cleo. The girl will ask you to enter the code 8539, but this code is invalid. Ultimately, the friends will not reveal the necessary PIN code to you. In this case, you will have to enter the wrong code three times to lock the device and turn to Jake for help.

By this time, Jessie will upload the remaining photos to the cloud, and you will be able to view them with the hacker. Examine the images until you reach the stand with the city map. On the map, you will notice a mark that should be shown to the others. There are no more important clues in the new photos.

Later, Jessie will write to you and offer to take a short tour around the country house. If you have the multimedia package unlocked, you can agree and view the photos, as well as discuss with the girl some circumstances of Hanna's disappearance. Continue talking to her until Jake writes to you.

You will finally gain access to some sectors of Hanna's phone. Open the phone and go to the SMS messages section. View the interesting messages, then move to the Map application. As soon as you view all the interesting places, access to the Chats application will be unlocked on the map.

You will be able to read messages with some of Hannah's friends, but several of them will still be unavailable. If you restore the dialogue with Amy, you will find out that the night before, the friends were planning to meet at Michael Hanson's house.

Return to the dialogue with Jake and tell him what you found. Choose the following answers:

  1. Amy had two reasons for this.
  2. Only Hannah saw the faceless man.
  3. Amy decided that Hannah was hallucinating because of the pills.
  4. Hannah's antidepressants.
  5. So, Amy thought that the pills were negatively affecting Hannah's condition?

Jake will remember where he saw the road at Michael Hanson's house. He was talking to Hannah on the phone at the moment of the attack, so he was able to notice the road. Therefore, the attack happened right at the house, but where was Amy at that moment?

Return to the group chat and tell everything to your friends. Complete the necessary number of mini-games to continue the story, then restart Hannah's phone. You will receive several SMS messages from an unknown number.

After some time, the Gallery application will become available, where you can find some interesting photos from Hannah's personal phone. At this moment, Jake will reach out to you and say that someone besides you is using Hannah's phone at the country house.

Return to the group chat and ask who currently has Hannah's phone. No one will confess, but the data input will stop. By this time, Jake will be able to access the phone's camera, and you will be able to open it.

Lily will distract you from the spy games and tell you that she remembered a story related to Hannah. The girl talked about this story during a session with a psychiatrist (an audio recording will be available):

  • He watched as they buried Jennifer's body in the woods. (Correct);
  • He observed as Hannah left a crow sign on the doors;
  • He followed them while they played dare.

Soon, you will receive a notification that someone is again using Hannah's phone. Open the Camera application and take a photo of the intruder. It will turn out to be Thomas. Next, you will have a long conversation with Thomas when he contacts you (answers do not affect the plot).

Jake will again restore the connection with Hannah's phone. Tell the hacker about the unknown person sending messages to her phone. Continue communicating with friends until the unknown person contacts you and says that the friends themselves fell into a trap when they decided to go to the country house.
