Proton 10 Released, Adding Support for New Linux Games and Fixing Old Bugs

Arkadiy Andrienko

Valve has introduced the stable version of the Proton 10 compatibility layer, significantly expanding the list of game titles available to run on this Linux operating system. The main goal of this new release is to ensure the stable operation of a number of games that previously either wouldn't run on Linux at all or exhibited serious issues.

Among the newly supported titles are: The Crew Motorfest, The Riftbreaker, as well as Far Horizon and Grim Fandango Remastered. This will allow computer users running Linux to experience these projects without the need for Windows.

An equally important part of the update is the numerous fixes for games that were already working. The developers have addressed crashes and various errors in popular titles such as Diablo IV, God of War: Ragnarok, Hunt: Showdown and Resident Evil Village. The improvements have also touched some iconic projects from years past, including Counter-Strike and Crysis 3, which should please fans of nostalgic gaming sessions.

In addition to game-specific fixes, the update also brings solutions for technical issues. For example, it resolves incorrect touchpad behavior for the DualSense controller when connected wirelessly. The developers have also managed to fix a recent issue that prevented the Epic Games Store launcher from starting under Proton. Users can now once again access their game library from this store's giveaways.
