Best Resident Evil Requiem Mods — Graphics, Gameplay and FPS Boosts
Resident Evil Requiem is the latest, ninth entry in Capcom’s iconic horror series, taking players back to the atmospheric streets of Raccoon City. The game features familiar faces like Leon Kennedy and introduces a new heroine, Grace Ashcroft, the daughter of Alyssa from the Outbreak series. The project received high praise from critics and positive feedback from gamers, with impressive sales in its first week. Thanks to community-made mods, Resident Evil Requiem gets even better. In this article, we’ve gathered the best mods for Resident Evil Requiem that every fan should try.
The game performed extremely well in sales. In our Resident Evil Requiem review, we noted that it brings together the best elements from previous titles. To see for yourself, you should definitely check out the game. Mods let you improve graphics and performance, tweak gameplay, make the experience easier or harder, and even change how characters look. Some mods can break the balance, so be sure to read the instructions carefully before installing.
How to Install Mods for Resident Evil Requiem
To install mods for Resident Evil Requiem, it’s best to use Fluffy Mod Manager. It helps you manage your mods, turning them on or off as you need. This is especially important for mods that might conflict with each other. Here’s a step-by-step guide to installing mods for Resident Evil Requiem using Fluffy Mod Manager and REFramework.
- Download and install REFramework.
- Download and install the Fluffy Mod Manager.
- Download the mod file and extract it if needed.
- Copy the contents to the Fluffy Mod Manager\Games\RE9\Mods folder. Activate the mod in the manager.
- Start the game.
- Open the REFramework menu by pressing Insert and select Enable Loose File Loader.
- Wait for the file scan to finish.
If a mod requires a different installation method, we’ll mention it in the description.
Mod Compatibility Issues in Resident Evil Requiem
Some mods can conflict with each other. For example, it’s not a good idea to install several graphics mods at once. If you start having glitches or the game won’t launch, open Fluffy Mod Manager and disable the last mod you added. If you still need that mod, try turning off some others.
Best Graphics Mods for Resident Evil Requiem (Graphics and FPS)
These Resident Evil Requiem graphics mods don’t affect gameplay but improve the visuals in the game. Some enhance graphics quality, while others boost FPS and performance on lower-end PCs.
Disable Forced Sharpening and TAA
This mod makes the image sharper and less blurry. It’s a great way to improve visuals without putting extra load on your system.
How to install:
- Install .NET Desktop Runtime 10.0.
- Install REFramework and C# API.
- Move the contents of RE9.zip and csharp-api.zip to the game’s root folder. Download the mod archive.
- Extract DisableSharpeningAndTAA.cs to the \reframework\plugins\source directory. Launch the game and wait for initialization.
- Press Insert, open the REFramework.NET tab, and make sure the script appears in the list.
Disable Film Grain
Another way to enhance image quality. This mod removes film grain, making visuals sharper and more realistic. However, you might not like the new look, but you can always undo the changes and turn the mod off.
Note: Place the mod in the SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\RESIDENT EVIL requiem BIOHAZARD requiem folder.
Improved Blood Textures
Makes blood pools look much more realistic. With this mod, blood stains take on different shapes depending on the shootout and where bullets hit. The resolution of blood textures is also increased, which may have a slight impact on performance.
Optimization
This mod lets you tweak the graphics settings to boost Resident Evil Requiem's performance without a big loss in image quality. It's a great choice if you want the game to run smoother.
How to install:
- Find the original config.ini file in the game's root folder (steamapps\common\RESIDENT EVIL requiem). Make a backup in case you want to revert the changes later.
- Download the optimized config.ini from the mod archive and open it in a text editor.
- Find the line with your GPU name and replace it with the one from your original file.
- Save and close the editor.
- Set the config.ini file to "Read Only" so the game won't overwrite your settings automatically.
- If you need to change the resolution or use a different upscaler like DLSS or FSR, temporarily remove "Read Only," make your changes, save, and set it back to "Read Only."
- Launch the game.
- Check performance in the most demanding scenes, like those with lots of effects or vegetation.
Best Gameplay Mods for Resident Evil Requiem
These gameplay mods offer a brand new experience. We recommend playing through the main story first before trying these experiments.
More Enemies
A mod designed for experienced players. It increases the number of enemies in each area, adds new enemy types, and gives them unique behaviors. For example, some enemies will patrol the map or guard specific locations. This mod works on all difficulty levels, but we can’t promise you’ll make it through on "Madness."
Improved Flashlight and Lighter
A great option for anyone who finds the default flashlight and lighter too dim. This mod makes the light much brighter, letting you see every detail even in the darkest areas. Keep in mind, though, that some scenes might lose a bit of their intended spooky atmosphere.
No Spread Shooting
Perfect for those who want to turn Resident Evil Requiem into a real first- or third-person shooter. This mod makes every shot perfectly accurate and removes weapon spread.
Enemy Health Bars
Adds a health bar so you can see how much health enemies have left. You’ll also see their stun status and whether they can revive after a critical hit. It’s a handy way to keep track of fights, though it might take away some of the tension in horror scenes.
Change Field of View
Some players feel the field of view in Resident Evil Requiem is too narrow. You can increase it with two different mods. You only need one, but you can try both and choose the one you like best.
There are also videos online showing what Resident Evil Requiem would look like with fixed camera angles. That mod doesn’t actually exist yet, but maybe fans will make it one day.
Balance Mods and Cheats for Resident Evil Requiem
These mods and cheats make the game easier. They change the balance set by Capcom’s developers, which can be a good option if you found the original Resident Evil Requiem too challenging. They’re also great for players who have already finished the game and want to experiment with its features.
However, just like with the previous section, we recommend trying to finish the story mode first, even on easy. These mods basically work like cheats and might take away some of the fun. If you get stuck, check out our Resident Evil Requiem walkthrough guide.
More Crafting Materials
This mod gives you more resources when crafting, so you won’t run out of ammo or supplies. The core mechanics of the game stay the same.
Keep in mind, though, that this mod does make things easier. Playing as Grace will feel much less tense, and some horror episodes might feel more like action scenes.
Easier Parrying
This mod increases the window for pressing the parry button, so you don’t need perfect timing to block attacks. It makes melee fights easier, especially against bosses where parrying is really important.
How to install:
- Download and extract the mod archive.
- Move the .lua file to Steam\steamapps\common\RESIDENT EVIL requiem BIOHAZARD requiem\reframework\autorun. If the autorun folder doesn’t exist, create it.
- Start the game.
Increased Movement Speed
This mod lets you adjust movement speed for both characters. You can change the values in the Walk Speed (for walking) and Run Speed (for running) sections in the REFramework menu. By default, the speed is set to 1.3, but you can tweak it anywhere between 0.5 and 3.0.
It’s a good choice if you feel like Grace and Leon move too slowly, especially during replays when you want to speed up those long walks through the maps.
Fast Weapon Reload
This mod cuts down the time it takes to swap magazines and draw weapons. It’s super handy during intense firefights when you’re juggling your arsenal, searching for ammo, and desperately firing whatever you have left. It does make the game less tense, but if that’s not a problem for you, give it a try.
You can adjust the reload speed, but at the highest setting it might look a bit silly.
Increased Blood Drop Chance
The blood collection mechanic is available when playing as Grace, but it doesn’t always trigger. With this mod, you’ll get a much higher chance of blood drops from enemies, giving you more crafting materials.
Basically, it’s like a mod that gives you more crafting resources, but it’s limited to blood only.
Increased Weapon Damage
If you want your guns to be more effective, use this mod. It boosts the critical hit chance to the max, so almost every headshot becomes a one-hit kill.
Requiem as Primary Weapon
This mod lets you use regular handgun ammo for the Requiem revolver. That means you can use it much more often than in the original game. Keep in mind, though, that with its high damage, fighting zombies might become way too easy.
Infinite Ammo and Invincibility
This mod replaces traditional cheat codes. With a single key press, you can turn on god mode, get unlimited ammo, activate one-hit kills, add or remove items from your inventory, and more.
Character Appearance Mods for Resident Evil Requiem (Leon, Grace)
Capcom works closely with its fanbase, not just by connecting to the early games and returning to Raccoon City. For example, you can dress up Grace Ashcroft as Lady Dimitrescu from Resident Evil Village just by buying the Deluxe Edition. Of course, mods offer even more options.
We’ll talk about spicy mods with nude Grace, Leon Kennedy, and other 18+ content in a separate article.
Alyssa Instead of Grace Ashcroft
This mod swaps Grace for her mother Alyssa, who fans might remember from Resident Evil: Outbreak. It’s a fun choice if you prefer Alyssa or feel nostalgic for the 2003 PlayStation 2 exclusive.
Just note, you might get a bit of a weird feeling in scenes where both characters appear together. It can look like you’re seeing twin sisters.
There’s also a separate mod that only changes Grace’s jacket to the one Alyssa wore.
Jill Valentine Instead of Grace
Replaces Grace Ashcroft’s model with Jill from the Resident Evil 3 remake. A great option for anyone hoping for a remake of the very first game in the series. Remember, Jill was the main character in one of the two storylines there.
Sherry Birkin Instead of Grace
Another way to swap the main character’s look for someone else. This mod lets you play as Sherry, who appeared in Resident Evil 2 and 6. In Requiem, she’s the one who keeps in touch with Leon.
Rose Winters Instead of Grace
This mod swaps Grace Ashcroft for Rose from Resident Evil Village — Shadows of Rose, where she’s already a grown woman. Just a reminder: Ethan Winters saved her from Mother Miranda and her followers.
Ada Wong Outfit for Grace
There are rumors about Ada returning in Resident Evil Requiem DLC. But you can already play as Leon’s supposed wife—well, her outfit at least, for Grace Ashcroft. Of course, Grace’s emotional reactions don’t really match the cool image of Ada Wong we’re used to.
Elsa Walker Racing Suit for Grace
This mod gives Grace Ashcroft Elsa’s racing suit from the early, canceled version of Resident Evil 2 (1998). The outfit also appeared as an alternate costume in the Resident Evil 2 remake.
Umbrella Gear Set
This mod replaces the Film Noir outfits for Leon and Grace with Umbrella Security Service combat uniforms. Perfect for anyone who loves a tough, military look.
RPD and S.T.A.R.S. Uniforms for Grace
The police uniform is a better fit for Leon, since he worked at the Raccoon City Police Department. But if you want to dress up Grace in a similar outfit, this mod is for you.
Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine were part of S.T.A.R.S., and now Grace Ashcroft can try on their uniform as well.
There’s also a simple T-shirt with the S.T.A.R.S. logo.
Cat Ears for Female Characters
This cute accessory is sure to make you smile. Of course, it might make the game feel a bit less dark and atmospheric.
Young Grace
This mod lets you play through the entire game as young Grace, the version seen in the prologue. Maybe you liked her more.
RPD Uniform for Leon, Shirtless
It’s no secret that many girls are fans of Leon. This mod was made especially for them: Leon wears his police uniform, but without a shirt underneath.
Hound Wolf Squad Outfit and Weapon for Leon
This mod swaps Leon Kennedy’s standard outfit for the Hound Wolf Squad gear, worn by Chris Redfield’s team in Resident Evil Requiem.
There’s also a separate mod that replaces the standard Clatter Carbine with the AK Mini Draco, which Chris Redfield and his squad used as well.
You might also want to check out the BSAA uniform for Leon.
Bela Dimitrescu Instead of Grace
If you like Lady Dimitrescu’s daughters more than the lady herself, check out this mod. It replaces Grace’s Alcina costume with the look of Bela, the blonde beauty with slightly smudged mascara. The author notes there may be occasional issues with how her legs appear.
Captain America Costume for Leon
A perfect choice for fans of Marvel comics and movies. This mod swaps out the RPD uniform for Steve Rogers’ outfit from Avengers: Endgame. The mod creator also plans to add the iconic shield instead of the axe and may let you equip Captain America’s classic mask in the future.
Colored Hair, Brows, and Lashes for Grace
These mods let you customize Grace Ashcroft’s appearance—change her hair color or give her new shades for her brows and lashes. The differences are subtle, but maybe you’ll like the new look more than the standard one.
Casual Outfits for Grace
Here you’ll find alternative outfits for Grace Ashcroft that aren’t tied to other characters. These mods let you swap out her standard look for something more interesting.
Extra Outfits for Leon
This section is just like the previous one, but for Leon Kennedy’s outfits.
Cosmetic Mods for Weapons and Monsters in Resident Evil Requiem
Here you’ll find mods for Resident Evil Requiem that change your guns’ colors or let you hide them completely. There are also mods that tweak how some monsters look.
Golden Firearms
The first mod covers the Requiem revolver in gold paint, so it really stands out in the game world. It’s kind of like the alternate weapon skins from Max Payne 3. Not everyone will love this look, since the flashy revolver might distract you during shootouts.
The second mod gives Leon and Grace’s standard pistols a golden finish too.
All Weapons in Solid Black
A cosmetic mod that turns every firearm in the game solid black. You might find this look more appealing than the default one.
Hide Leon’s Weapons
Normally, Leon’s weapons are visible on his character model. This mod lets you hide them, so only the Requiem revolver shows. Of course, this is just a visual change and doesn’t affect gameplay.
Laser Sight Instead of Crosshair
This mod replaces the regular crosshair with a realistic laser sight. The laser wobbles with each shot and reacts to weapon recoil. It’s purely a cosmetic change and won’t affect your shooting accuracy. You can also choose the color of the laser pointer if you like.
How to install:
- Download and extract the mod archive.
- Move the .lua file into the reframework\autorun\ folder in your Resident Evil Requiem directory.
- Start the game.
- Press Insert and adjust the settings in the REFramework menu.
Volatile from Dying Light Instead of Mari
Mari is the mutant girl who hunts Grace in the Resident Evil Requiem story mode. This mod replaces her with a Volatile from the Dying Light series. The monster looks even more terrifying in this new form.
***
Resident Evil Requiem isn’t just a great game—it’s also a fantastic playground for mods. They offer visual upgrades, minor balance tweaks, and cosmetic changes for weapons and character outfits. Mods are also a great way to pass the time while waiting for the upcoming story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem.
