This mod increases the Unreal Engine texture streaming pool for Gothic 1 Remake based on your GPU VRAM.
It works for low-end to high-end GPUs no matter which texture settings you’re using.
Why?
The game ships with surprisingly small default texture streaming pools:
- Texture Quality Low: 200 MB.
- Texture Quality Medium: 300 MB.
- Texture Quality High-ish: 400-500 MB.
- Texture Quality Cine: 1000 MB.
Many players use Texture Quality Cine on modern GPUs, which means the default pool can still be only 1000 MB. On GPUs with 8-24 GB VRAM this can cause unnecessary texture streaming pressure, pop-in, and frametime drops.
Author's Test: On a 20 GB Radeon RX 7900 XT setup, raising the pool to 10240 MB made the Swamp Camp noticeably smoother, with fewer drops and a more stable feel. VRAM usage in that area was around 9.6 GB.
Pick the preset matching your GPU VRAM:
- 4 GB VRAM —> 1536 MB pool.
- 6 GB VRAM —> 3072 MB pool.
- 8 GB VRAM —> 4096 MB pool.
- 10 GB VRAM —> 5120 MB pool.
- 12 GB VRAM —> 6144 MB pool.
- 16 GB VRAM —> 8192 MB pool.
- 20 GB VRAM —> 10240 MB pool.
- 24 GB VRAM —> 12288 MB pool.
This is primarily a stutter, frametime, and streaming fix. It does NOT reduce Lumen, Nanite, shadow quality, texture quality, view distance, or resolution.
