This mod changes the crossbow mechanics in Gothic 1 Remake by replacing Dexterity requirements and damage scaling with Strength. It allows Strength-based and two-handed weapon builds to use crossbows effectively, while bows remain unchanged and continue to rely on Dexterity.

Features:

  • Crossbow requirements changed from Dexterity to Strength;
  • Crossbow damage now scales with Strength;
  • Bows remain completely unchanged and still use Dexterity;
  • Original requirement values are preserved for each crossbow;
  • Light Crossbow requires 25 Strength;
  • Crossbow requires 27 Strength;
  • Heavy Crossbow requires 45 Strength;
  • War Crossbow requires 55 Strength;
  • Updated requirements are displayed in item tooltips;
  • Crossbow stats automatically update whenever attributes change;
  • Supports trainer upgrades, permanent potions, and stat-boosting equipment;
  • Event-driven implementation with no background polling or performance impact;
  • Does not modify save files;
  • Does not affect .pak files;
  • All changes are applied only while the game is running.

Configuration (G1R_GothicCrossbowSTR.ini):

  • Scale — determines how much damage each point of Strength adds;
  • Values above 0 (default 0.7) make crossbows use Strength for both requirements and damage;
  • A value of 1.0 provides scaling comparable to Dexterity bows;
  • A value of 0 enables requirement-only mode, where crossbows require Strength but still deal vanilla Dexterity-based damage;
  • Enabled — master toggle (0 restores vanilla Dexterity requirements and damage);
  • DebugLogging — enables detailed logging in UE4SS.log.

Installation:

  • Download the archive;
  • Extract the contents to: \G1R\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods.
