Nightdive Studios has announced the release of System Shock Remake on the hybrid Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 consoles. To celebrate the port’s launch, the developers dropped a new trailer showcasing fresh gameplay footage. Previously, the game was released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

The Switch 2 version supports both gamepad controls and mouse input, with the Joy-Con 2 acting as a mouse. Gyroscopic aiming is also available. The game runs at 1440p and 60 FPS in docked mode on Switch 2, and at 1080p/60 FPS in handheld mode.

System Shock Remake is a modern reimagining of the iconic 1994 sci-fi game, carefully updated for a new generation. The remake preserves the core gameplay—blending exploration, survival, and action—while enhancing the experience with HD graphics, a revamped interface, improved controls, and updated audio design.

Players will explore the Citadel space station, now under the control of the rogue AI SHODAN, who manipulates the environment, enemies, and security systems. The story unfolds non-linearly through environmental storytelling, audio logs, and world details.

Hacking, interacting with cyberspace, and finding alternative routes play a crucial role. The combat system allows for a mix of gunplay, melee, and tactical approaches, while the visual style combines the original’s retro-futurism with modern technology.

Earlier this month, Assassin's Creed Shadows was also ported to Switch 2.
