Nevillet in Genshin Impact: Best Builds for Weapons and Artifacts, Skills, Talents and Leveling
Nevillet — a five-star Hydro character, will appear in Genshin Impact in the first half of the 4.1 update. Thanks to our guide, you can learn about his abilities, resources needed for development, and the best team compositions involving this hero.
Description of Nevillet — title, affiliation, constellation, and gender
- Gender: Male;
- Region: Fontaine;
- Affiliation: Court of Fontaine, Twilight Court;
- Title: Supreme Judge of Fontaine.
Little is known about Nevillet. He refuses interviews and is reticent during his rare addresses. However, his title of Supreme Judge of Fontaine inevitably draws people's attention. Therefore, they have to rely on rumors. The most famous of which claims that Nevillet is not human but a representative of the merlin race, possibly even the progenitor of this people. In any case, he is a worthy judge, honest and just.
Nevillet's Talents
Active Skills:
Like a Water's Surface (normal attack). The hero makes from 1 to 3 shots with water jets. However, Nevillet's key ability is his charged attack. By pressing the corresponding button, the character starts to hover above the ground and gather Source Drops, which restore his health. If you pick up 3 pieces, you will deal an additional strike to the enemies.
During this time, the Arbitration Seal will charge. After it's completed, you will shoot a stream of water at the enemies. It hits in a straight line continuously for 3 seconds and consumes the hero's health if his life force bar is above 50%. At the same time, stamina is not spent.
If the charging of the Arbitration Seal is interrupted, then area damage will be dealt to the enemies.
Oh Tears, I Shall Repay (elemental skill). Nevillet summons a Raging Rainstorm, which deals area damage that depends on the hero's maximum life force. If you hit an enemy, three Source Drops will appear on the battlefield. The skill's cooldown time is 12 seconds. The Drops remain on the arena for 15 seconds.
Oh Waves, I Have Returned (elemental burst). This ability calls forth a wave that deals Hydro damage in an area and produces 6 Source Drops. As with the elemental skill, its effectiveness depends on Nevillet's life force. After the effect ends, two Raging Rainstorms occur. Cooldown time is 18 seconds. Energy cost is 70 units.
Passive Talents:
- Heir of the Ancient Sea. Nevillet gains one level of Bygone Glory for participating in elemental reactions such as Hydro-Dispersion, Hydro-Crystallization, Budding, Charged, Freeze, and Steam. The effect lasts for 30 seconds and can stack up to 3 times. For the 1st level, the character's damage increases by 10%, for the 2nd — by 25%, and for the 3rd — by 60%. Bonuses from different reactions occur independently and do not stack with each other.
- Discipline of the Supreme Arbiter. When the character has more than 30% life force, his attack increases by 0.6% for every 1% of additional health. The maximum bonus is 30%.
- Gather Like Waves. The sprint speed under water increases by 15% for all fighters of your team that includes Nevillet. The effect does not stack with other similar bonuses.
Constellations of Nevillet
Constellations are unique passive abilities that significantly enhance the character's effectiveness in battle. To unlock them, you need Luck. You'll get it when you pull Nevillet again during prayers.
Bonuses from Constellations:
- Foundation of Honor. Nevillet gains one level of Bygone Glory immediately upon entering the battlefield. This requires unlocking the passive skill Heir of the Ancient Sea. As an additional bonus, it increases the resistance to interruption of the hero's charged attacks.
- Decree of Law. Each level of Bygone Glory from the passive talent Heir of the Ancient Sea increases the critical damage chance by 14% (up to a maximum of 42%).
- Ancient Fiction. The level of normal attacks (Like a Water's Surface) is increased by 3 levels, but not higher than 15th.
- Crown of Compassion. When Nevillet receives healing, one additional Source Drop appears on the battlefield. The effect can occur no more than once every 0.4 seconds.
- Universally Acknowledged Treaty. Mastery of elemental burst (Oh Waves, I Have Returned) increases by 3 levels, but not more than 15.
- Wrathful Retribution. During the charged attack (Like a Water's Surface), Nevillet automatically picks up Source Drops within a small radius around him. Each of them extends the duration of the charged status by 1 second. And if you hit enemies, two currents will emerge every 2 seconds, dealing Hydro damage to enemies equal to 10% of the hero's maximum life force.

Everlasting Amber is a special resource that drops from the Oasis Guardian Apep of level 70 and above. We've marked the location where this boss resides on the map.

Weapon and Artifact Builds for Nevillet
Weapon
Rite of the Endless Flow. Nevillet's signature weapon. Its base damage is 44-542 units, and the critical hit bonus is 19.2-88.2%. Meanwhile, the life force scale increases by 16-32%. If the character's health decreases or is restored, the damage from charged attacks increases by 14-30% for 4 seconds. This effect occurs once every 0.4 seconds and can stack up to 3 times. If you reach the maximum bonus, then replenish 8-12 energy units (no more than once every 12 seconds).
If you are going to focus on charged attacks, then this catalyst will be the best choice. And the additional increase in health will enhance the effectiveness of elemental burst and elemental skill. The Rite of the Endless Flow can be obtained through prayers.
Splendor of the Azure Vault. A five-star catalyst with base damage of 46-608 units. It increases the hero's maximum health by 10.8-49.6%. And when you use the elemental skill (Oh Tears, I Shall Repay), your elemental damage increases by 0.3-1.1% for every 1000 health points for 3 seconds (but not more than 12-44%). Additionally, you will regenerate 4.5-6.5 energy units every 2.5 seconds.
A great alternative to the signature weapon. It increases maximum health, enhances the effectiveness of all skills, and accelerates energy regeneration. The Splendor of the Azure Vault can be acquired through the Divine Ingenuity prayer.
Song of the Boundless Lapis. A four-star catalyst with base damage of 44-565 units and an energy recharge bonus of 6.7-30.6%. After hitting an enemy, the normal attack increases by 8-16%, and the charged attack by 6-12%. The effect occurs once every 0.3 seconds, lasts for 6 seconds, and can stack up to three times.
Although this weapon does not increase your health, it can be useful due to the increased damage from charged attacks. Moreover, it can be obtained for free during the Poetry in the Waters event. It will take place in the first half of the 4.1 update when Nevillet's banner is available.
Gleam of Pure Waters. If you are unable to acquire the catalysts mentioned above, you can opt for a free alternative. A four-star weapon named Gleam of Pure Waters is crafted from materials available in the game's open world.
Base damage is 44-565 units, and it grants an additional damage bonus of 6%-27.6%. Using an elemental skill increases Hydro-element efficiency by 8-16% for 15 seconds and also creates a Life Debt effect, which lasts for 10 seconds. Thanks to this effect, Nevillet's health scale increases by 24%. When this effect ends, you also receive a damage bonus of 2-4% for every 1000 health points spent for another 15 seconds, but not more than 12-24%.
As you can see, this catalyst dynamically increases the effectiveness of normal attacks and boosts the character's health during combat. Consequently, the effectiveness of the elemental burst and elemental skill is increased.
To get the blueprint for crafting the Gleam of Pure Waters weapon, complete the Semi-Automatic Forging quest. Then head to the Bomont workshop, located in Fontaine. Its owner, Estelle, will sell you the blueprint needed to craft the catalyst. The location of the forge is marked on the map.
To craft the Gleam of Pure Waters, you will need the following materials:
- Central Lands Catalyst Billet (1);
- White Iron Chunk (50);
- Condensed Crystals (50);
- Mora (500).
The Central Lands Catalyst Billet can be obtained from bosses such as the Oasis Guardian Apep and Shouki no Kami, or crafted using Dream Solvent and a Northlander Catalyst Billet. You can also receive it after defeating Stormterror, Signora, Azhdaha, Lupus Boreas, Childe, and Magatsu Mitake Narukami no Mikoto. Alternatively, you can purchase the billet from the Xingxi's shop.
Condensed Crystals can only be found in Fontaine.
Look for White Iron Chunks throughout Teyvat.
Artifacts
Millennia's Sturdiness + Depths of Heart
- 2 pieces — Increases character's HP by 20%.
- 4 pieces — Increases Hydro DMG by 15%.
This set boosts maximum HP, increases the damage of charged attacks, as well as the elemental skill and elemental burst. An excellent choice, especially in the early stages of developing Nevillet. Millennia's Sturdiness can be found in the Mountain Watch dungeon, and Depths of Heart at the Peak of Vindagnyr.
Twilight Court Hunter
- 2 pieces — Increases Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 15%.
- 4 pieces — When Nevillet's HP increases or decreases, CRIT Rate increases by 12%. This effect lasts for 5 seconds and stacks up to 3 times.
A decent set that pairs well with the character's signature weapon. However, to maximize the bonus, you will need to constantly take damage and then heal. If you don't want to rely on the chance of critical hits, consider another option. You can acquire this set of artifacts in the dungeon called the End of Sin. Its location is indicated on the map.
Twilight Court Hunter + Depths of Heart
- 2 pieces — Increases Normal and Charged Attack DMG by 15%.
- 4 pieces — Increases the effectiveness of Hydro attacks by 15%.
The optimal choice for maximizing the damage of charged attacks, which you will rely on.
Nymph's Slumber
- 2 pieces — increases Hydro DMG by 15%;
- 4 pieces — hitting an enemy grants one level of Nymph's Reflection. This effect stacks up to 3 times for each type of attack (normal, charged, plunging, elemental skill, elemental burst). At the first level, attack is increased by 7%, and the bonus to Hydro DMG is 4%. At the second level, these figures reach 16% and 9%, and at the third — 25% and 15%.
Another way to increase the damage of charged attacks. However, you will have to consistently hit the enemy with them to maintain the bonus to all types of attacks. This artifact set can be obtained in the Molten Fortress (Abandoned Stronghold). Use our map to find this dungeon.
Heart of the Depths
- 2 pieces — increases Hydro DMG by 15%;
- 4 pieces — hitting an enemy with an elemental skill increases the effectiveness of normal and charged attacks by 30% for 15 seconds.
If you choose this set, you will have to constantly use your elemental skill. Only in this way will you be able to continuously receive a bonus to the damage of charged attacks.
Additional Artifact Parameters
- Goblet: increase in health;
- Chalice: increase in Hydro DMG;
- Crown: increase in critical damage and its chance of occurrence;
- Sub-stat: energy recharge speed.
Pros and Cons of Nevillett
Advantages
- High level of health, which increases as you level up;
- Increasing the maximum life force makes the elemental skill and burst even more effective;
- Thanks to Source Drops, can self-heal;
- As you level up, critical damage automatically increases;
- Interacts well with other elements when elemental reactions occur;
- Effective as a main DPS character even without unlocking Constellations (except the first).
Disadvantages
- Nevillett is effective exclusively as a main DPS character;
- Without unlocking the first Constellation, the hero will be constantly interrupted during the cast of charged attacks. Therefore, you will need a shielder in the squad;
- Low base damage;
- As teammates, you need to choose characters who can deal damage when they are not on the battlefield.
How to play as Nevillett? Which characters synergize with him in a team?
A distinctive feature of the gameplay strategy for Nevillett is the need for constant use of his charged attack. Only in this state does he deal maximum damage and can heal himself with Source Drops, which appear as you use his elemental skill and burst.
However, the character cannot deal damage when not on the field. Therefore, he must personally participate in the battle most of the time. Other heroes should be chosen so that they create elemental reactions or their attacks deal damage automatically, without their physical presence. An alternative option is to summon them for a powerful hit and then immediately switch back to Nevillett.
Thanks to the constant replenishment of life force, you can manage without a healer. However, until you unlock the first Constellation, it is recommended to include a shielder in the team. This will enhance Nevillett's resistance to interruption during his charged attack, which is critically important for him.
Team with an Electro character (for Superconduct reactions), without constellations:
- Main DPS character: Nevillett;
- Electro hero for elemental reactions: Yae Miko, Fischl, Raiden, or Kuki Shinobu;
- Anemo character for enhancing elemental attacks: Kazuha (priority), Sucrose (priority), Venti, or Heizou;
- Hero for creating shields: Zhongli (priority), Noelle, Layla, or Diona.
With this approach, first apply a shield to Nevillett, switch to him and attack the enemies. While skills are on cooldown or stamina is recovering, summon Electro and Anemo heroes for conducting elemental reactions with Hydro element.
Team with Electro and Dendro characters (for Bloom reactions), with the first constellation:
- Main DPS character: Nevillett;
- Electro hero for elemental reactions: Fischl, Kuki Shinobu, Yae Miko, or Raiden;
- Anemo character for enhancing elemental attacks: Sucrose (priority), Kazuha (priority), Heizou, or Venti;
- Dendro hero for creating cores: Nahida, Collei, Kirara, or Traveler (Dendro).
If you already have the first Constellation, then the shielder can be replaced with a Dendro adept. In this case, the combination of their abilities with Nevillett's skills will produce cores (for the Budding reaction). Electro skills will turn them into homing projectiles that will strike at enemies.
Team with a Pyro character (Vaporize reaction), without constellations:
- Main DPS character: Nevillett;
- Pyro character for elemental reactions: Xiangling, Bennett, or Amber;
- Anemo character to enhance elemental attacks: Kazuha (priority), Sucrose (priority), Heizou, or Venti;
- Character for creating shields: Zhongli (priority), Layla, Noelle, or Diona.
After applying a shield, attack enemies with Hydro abilities, then use the Pyro character's abilities. As a result, you will trigger the Vaporize reaction, which will increase damage by 150%. The Anemo character will allow to enhance Nevillett's attack power.
Team with a Pyro character (Vaporize reaction), with the first constellation:
- Main DPS character: Nevillett;
- Pyro character for elemental reactions: Bennett, Amber, or Xiangling;
- Anemo character to enhance elemental attacks: Sucrose (priority), Kazuha (priority), Venti, or Heizou;
- Dendro character for creating cores: Kirara, Nahida, Traveler (Dendro), or Collei.
Having a Dendro character instead of a shielder will allow creating cores, which will detonate thanks to the abilities of the Pyro character (Burning).
Team with a Hydro character (Hydro resonance), with the first constellation:
- Main DPS character: Nevillett;
- Electro character for elemental reactions: Raiden, Fischl, Kuki Shinobu, or Yae Miko;
- Hydro character for resonance: Traveler (Hydro), Nilou, or Kokomi;
- Dendro character for creating cores: Nahida, Collei, Kirara, or Traveler (Dendro).
If you have already unlocked the first constellation for Nevillett, you can add a second Hydro character to the team. This way, you will achieve elemental resonance, which will increase the hero's health by 25%. Choose other characters at your discretion, for example, take Dendro and Electro adepts to create cores and make them fly towards the enemies.
Team with a Cryo character (Freeze reaction):
- Main DPS character: Nevillett;
- Cryo character for elemental reactions: Eula, Ganyu, Rosaria, or Ayaka;
- Anemo character to enhance elemental attacks: Kazuha (priority), Sucrose (priority), Heizou, or Venti;
- Hydro character to enhance damage: Mona, Candace, or Nilou.
With this approach, the main focus is on combining Hydro and Cryo skills. In this case, you can freeze enemies. The presence or absence of the 1st constellation does not matter. However, keep in mind that this tactic is only applicable for battles with regular mobs. Freezing a boss will not be possible.
Team with four five-star characters
- Main DPS character: Nevillett;
- Dendro character for creating cores: Nahida;
- Electro character for targeting projectiles at enemies: Raiden;
- Geo character for creating shields and Crystallize reaction: Zhongli.
If you have these characters, it doesn't matter whether you've unlocked Nevillett's first constellation or not. Zhongli will be useful for both creating shields and for the Crystallize effect, which increases elemental resistance. Enemies can be defeated with either the Charged reaction (Hydro + Electro) or Overgrowth (Hydro + Dendro + Electro). Constant electro damage and self-targeting cores will ensure victory over any opponent. And if you've unlocked Nevillett's first passive skill (Heir of the Ancient Seas), the combination of these elements will increase the power of his basic attacks.
