How to Conduct the Interrogation in the "Necessary Evil" Quest

Note: If you tell Otto that Semin Jr. left the wedding early, it will raise the first suspicions. In this case, if you want to hide Olgrich's involvement with the bandits from Bergov, you will have to pass a persuasion check. If you fail, Henry will be sent to Semin to participate in the assault.

But to get all the necessary information, it's important to successfully interrogate the prisoner in the eighth story mission called "Necessary Evil." If you fail the torture and the bandit dies, the game will continue, but you will have nothing to report to Otto.

Correct options during the interrogation:

  • "We asked first."
  • "Give a slap."
  • "Examine the pliers."
  • "Where is your gang hiding?"
  • "Hit" or "Do you want some torture?" The second option is available if your intimidation skill has reached 14 points.
  • "I guess where it might be." This line will appear if you did not achieve the desired result during the previous dialogue.
  • "Take the hammer."
  • "Why did you attack us?"
  • "You'll talk, you'll talk (take the tool)."
  • "We're just wasting time on you."

If you did everything correctly, the prisoner will confess that Semin is collaborating with the bandits. This is important information that you can use to your advantage.

Upon successful interrogation, your eloquence skill will improve. Mistakes and excessive cruelty will lead to Jan Ptacek starting to treat you worse.

How to Get the "Silence is Golden" Trophy

Next, you will have dialogues with Ptacek and Otto von Bergov. To receive the "Silence is Golden" achievement, you need to choose the following options:

  • "Let's keep quiet about Semin."
  • "Bandits in Nebakov."
  • "No one helped these bandits."

Thus, Bergov will not learn that Semin is involved in the matter. And you will receive the rare achievement "Silence is Golden."

How to Reach the Secret Bad Ending

This scenario will allow you to finish the game prematurely. We recommend making a backup save.

We return to the conversation with Ptacek and Otto immediately after the successful torture. The conversation should be conducted differently. Correct lines in the dialogues:

  • "Let's turn into Semin."
  • "Young Semin is in league with the bandits!"

A raid on Semin will begin. In the city itself, a conversation will start between you, Jan, and Gashek. Choose the following options:

  • "We'll settle this peacefully."
  • "You can't do this."
  • "You're going too far."
  • "I intend to stop this."

Thus, you will support Semin and go against Bergov. You will have to defeat his soldiers.

Then you will need to defend Semin in front of Gashek. Correct options:

  • "What exactly did our people do to you?"
  • "I will let you go."
  • "And if I resist?"

You will have to defeat Gashek in a duel and fend off the attack from his men.

The next day, you will report what happened to Otto. You can say whatever you want. Only the final response matters:

  • "We killed the steward!"

As a result, von Bergov will order the main character to be hanged. This will conclude the playthrough, and you will receive a truly bad ending. We discussed other possible endings and important plot choices in a separate guide.
