October is the time when cosplayers get their Halloween looks ready. At the same time, though, we also see plenty of work tied to current trends — movies and anime series based on video games, for instance. Street Fighter heroines are another popular trend of October 2026. The reason is obvious: a new movie based on the fighting game series came out, and expectations for it were high. However, the film didn't land with everyone — many viewers found it messy and not especially spectacular. That said, it deserves credit for its vibrant costumes, funny jokes, and nods to the '80s and '90s culture of the era when the first Street Fighter games came out.

Rumors have surfaced about a re-release of the original Vampire: The Masquerade — Bloodlines. It's worth noting that the 2004 original received a ton of fan patches that fixed technical issues and noticeably improved the graphics. Mods like these let you play through the game without any trouble even today. It'll be interesting to see how the official remaster stacks up against the enthusiasts' work. In Mary Shelley's original novel Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus, the scientist planned to create a companion for his monster but ultimately abandoned the idea. Still, the Bride of Frankenstein has shown up in many adaptations of the novel. One of the more recent works to feature her is the animated series Creature Commandos, part of the DC universe. Alcina from Resident Evil Village remains popular in fan culture even today. Capcom's management clearly understands this, which is why they added Lady Dimitrescu's outfit for Grace Ashcroft as a bonus skin in Requiem. In Marvel Comics, Venom fused with Spider-Gwen into a single being. Since then, the alien substance has been mimicking her spider-powers. The character is called Gwenom to distinguish her from the version that isn't bonded with the symbiote. Her cosplay was made by Shirogane-sama.

Two days after the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, the original game got a major update with new anime-related content, as well as the ability to dual-wield guns. Cyberpunk 2077 is still popular among cosplayers, with Panam Palmer being picked more often than Judy Alvarez, Evelyn Parker, or Misty Olszewski. Lizzie Whistle combined the familiar look with the hockey mask and machete of Jason Voorhees, the main villain of the Friday the 13th movie series. Since Hideki Kamiya left PlatinumGames, there's been no word on the Bayonetta series. The studio isn't in the best shape right now, having lost many of its key developers. Whether it can even release the next chapter of the modern witches' story is a big question. On top of that, Bayonetta 3 had a clear hint at a change of protagonist, and fans often criticize decisions like that — just look at the controversy around Devil May Cry 4 during development. Malice is the alter-ego of Susan Storm from the Fantastic Four. Psycho-Man took advantage of the woman's depression and amplified her negative emotions, turning her into a villain who attacked her own teammates. But Reed Richards managed to bring his beloved back to normal. In Marvel Rivals, Malice is an alternate skin for Invisible Woman. Her look was brought to life by Ulichan.

The very first cartoon about the talking dog Scooby came out all the way back in 1969. That's where we first met Shaggy, Daphne, Velma, and Fred. Together, they solved mysteries and exposed con artists, usually people disguised as ghosts, zombies, and various monsters to pull off some elaborate scheme. Besides the cartoons, we've also seen live-action movies and crossovers with DC comics. In 2027, the series Scooby-Doo: Origins premieres, serving as a prequel to the whole story. We'll learn how the gang first met and attempted their very first investigation — with only one witness: a little puppy. The Daphne cosplay was made by Introspecta.

The Chainsaw Man manga wrapped up in March 2026, while the anime adaptation has only covered a small part of the story so far. So far, there's been a first season and a feature film covering the Reze arc. A continuation has already been announced, but no release date has been set yet. Juri Han made her debut much later than Cammy and Chun-Li, arriving in Super Street Fighter 4 in 2010. Even so, she quickly became one of the series' most recognizable characters. This villain is a master of Korean taekwondo and relies heavily on kicks. Ahead of the Street Fighter movie's release, many cosplayers turned specifically to Juri, even though she isn't in the film. The first month of autumn has come to an end. Many cosplayers are already getting ready for Halloween and other holidays, but they haven't forgotten about current trends either. As a result, we got to see Juliet from the yet-to-be-released Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Back2Back and Jae Heydari from Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. Still, some prefer the classics and turn to heroines of the distant past. A prime example is Alice from the early Resident Evil movies. All of these looks stand out for their flawless attention to detail in the costumes, accessories, and wigs, as well as the models' acting.

On September 18, Resident Evil hit theaters — a new film by Zach Cregger, the director of Barbarian and Weapons. Amid the debate around the new adaptation of the cult horror series, fans sometimes look back at the movies made by Paul W. S. Anderson. Although they featured Raccoon City and the Umbrella Corporation, the story went its own way, and we saw a zombie apocalypse on a planetary scale. The second Lollipop Chainsaw was officially announced at Tokyo Game Show 2026. It takes place in Jaredwood, a sprawling metropolis where zombie movies are made. The protagonist, Juliet, falls into the trap of a mysterious director and has to fight her way out. The sequel is already getting mixed reactions from fans. Some are happy that their favorite game is getting a follow-up, while others are upset that Goichi Suda — one of the original's creators, known for his wild ideas — isn't on the development team. Although Fallout 5 has already been announced, don't expect it anytime soon. Right now, Bethesda is busy with the sixth installment of The Elder Scrolls series. Xbox head Asha Sharma has said she has already seen a working build of the game. However, no one has named an exact release date yet. Zenless Zone Zero remains HoYoverse's weakest project in recent years. Journalists wrote about the game's problems back at launch. A lot of time has passed since then, but the situation hasn't changed — ZZZ brings in far less money than Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail. In recent years, there have been almost too many games set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. One of the best turned out to be Rogue Trader by Owlcat, the studio known for the Pathfinder duology. It's an RPG with tactical combat in the vein of XCOM. A direct sequel hasn't been announced yet, but work is underway on Dark Heresy, which is similar in spirit. The success of the Resident Evil 2 remake kicked off a trend for high-quality remakes of classic horror games. That said, Capcom itself doesn't always please its fans. For example, the new version of the series' third installment disappointed many. Several levels from the original didn't make it into the remake, which made it feel far too short. Alternate versions of famous comic book characters usually remain little known to a wide audience. But Spider-Gwen is an exception to that rule. Her popularity was boosted by two animated films — Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Not every mainline Resident Evil game was a breakthrough for the genre. Some simply built on the concept of the previous entry. For example, Village was based on the mechanics of Resident Evil 7 but turned out to be more complex and varied. Many remember it for its charismatic bosses with their own backstories. On top of that, you had to adapt to the conditions of each fight. For instance, to defeat Lady Dimitrescu's "daughters", you had to expose them to cold air. Movies and TV shows about Batman have been coming out since 1943. Across different adaptations, his story has been told as a drama, a thriller, a detective story, and even a comedy. For example, Tim Burton portrayed the Dark Knight's clash with the Joker and the Penguin as a dark modern fairy tale with room for both cruelty and humor.
