Forza Horizon 4

Forza Horizon 4 is a continuation of the popular racing car simulator with first and third-person views. The foundation of the game remains the same as before: racing in an open world with a strong emphasis on multiplayer. The main feature of "the fourth" is the dynamic system of changing seasons. It will be strictly synchronized with the server — all players without exception will share the same experience. The season directly affects driving, and up to 72 racers can play on one server.

The racing arcade in the open world Forza Horizon 4 is developed for PC and Xbox One with cross-platform play functionality between platforms. Most of the game activities are focused on multiplayer and cooperative modes, while single-player is more of a checkbox feature.

It is a direct successor to Forza Horizon 3, but it received improved graphics, a different region, even more cars, and modes. As before, racing takes place in a variety of vehicles: sports cars, supercars, hypercars, buggies, and SUVs on various types of surfaces — asphalt, off-road, snow, and ice.

Forza Horizon 4 has low system requirements, which is why the graphics after Forza Horizon 3 became somewhat worse — the models are not as sharp, the environment, such as trees and roads, looks more "blurry," and the draw distance has decreased even more. However, additional effects look better — dirt on the body, water splashes and rain, immersion in snow, and tire tracks on surfaces.

Minor changes occurred in the physics; the controls became even easier and more convenient, cars handle turns better and feel more stable at high speeds. It is less often necessary to hit the brakes, and more objects can be knocked down while driving without fear of crashing, which is useful in off-road racing.

The action of the game takes place in a world resembling a fictional Britain. The difference after Australia is quite noticeable — mountainous natural landscapes; classic British architecture of buildings — Gothic cathedrals and various spires, as well as several castles; characteristic road styles and other local color.

Some objects, such as buildings or castles, can be purchased and provide bonuses. The area of the world has increased slightly, but its detail has significantly improved — the number of static objects and track mileage has grown.

The main feature of Forza Horizon 4 is the seasons of the year (spring, summer, winter, and autumn), which change the game world according to the time, along with them the weather and physics change. Each season lasts one week of real time.

In spring and autumn, players will face frequent rains, wet roads, and dense fog, while in winter they will have to master driving on snowy roads, which will cause the car to behave unpredictably. Summer is best suited for high-speed races in hypercars.

Although Forza Horizon 4 is designed for multiplayer — the game connects to the server every time you enter the game — you can participate in races alone or without the Internet. Then a system of computer drivatars will come to the rescue — digitized profiles of behavior on the road and control methods of a real player. Difficulty settings allow you to compete in accordance with the player's skills — you can barely move the sticks, or you can sweat behind the wheel. There is no plot as such at all.

To experience real fun and get a boost of fun, you need to call real people in the online game. Up to 72 players can participate in a session — they drive around the world together, explore it, complete their tasks or participate in events initiated by one of the players.

The goal is banal — to drive without stopping, although formally you need to become the star of the Horizon festival by filling levels to infinity. But the main thing here is not the result, but the process, and players can choose how to deal with it themselves - just drive, participate in PvP events, or race only in a team, look for old cars, tune a car, and so on.

The main change since Forza Horizon 3 is a rethought leveling. If earlier new cars, upgrades, and money fell on the player from the sky, now you need to fight for all this, persist and not give in to competitors.

In addition, the first 4-5 hours of the game supervise the development - the player is given three cars to try, explained what seasons are and how they differ, unlocked the car dealership, many types of competitions and Horizon festivals. And only after this comes complete freedom. This is how motivation appears to return to the game and win, increasing your car fleet and the number of completed tasks.

Forza Horizon 4 has absorbed the competitive racing and various fun races of the previous parts, and new activities between players in the online session have appeared. For example, "Forzathon" starts a marathon with a mix of classic competitions and various types of fun activities.

During "15 minutes of speed" all players gather in one point of the world to complete three simple tasks and get extra points. There is also a cooperative passage - the "convoy" mode with a search for a garage for a while, in which a rare car is hidden.

Since the game is distributed as a service, there are so many options for spending time in it that it is difficult to even list them all.
